I'll respond to your other post but first, got to adress this. Do you not see the problem with this? We are supposed to have free travel through international waters. Not all of that is in their 12mi territorial waters. One reason our navy patrols is to ensure safe travels through the waters. Now Iran is going to start charging tolls to pass international waters? What will they do if a nation refuses to pay the unjust troll? Attack the ship? That should be an act of war. Maybe more nations will follow suit. Wow that could cause quite a spiral and the world is all for it. I wonder how that will affect the global economy?

What's more is countries in Europe with a big smile are saying they will pay this toll. They are more than happy to pay to a nation that kills 30K+ of it's own people for protesting and sponsors terrorism. Of course, Iran is being real nice to them right now, but if they manage to make this happen, and the US backs off, imagine the power they have, knowing they can do nothing about it.

I'm not saying it's perfect, and I see the problem, but I point out how hypocritical our leaders are.

We put an embargo on Cuba. Washington DC said no ships are allowed to use those waters to deliver shipments to Cuba.. How is that any different from what Iran is doing? Obviously, the Strait is way more important to the world economy, but ignore that. Is it any different from us telling nations that trade with Cuba that they cannot use the waters near Cuba because we have issues with that country?


You are right in that letting Iran control the Strait is giving too much power to Iran. The Strait had free travel for 50 years, but only until a month ago, when we bombed them. We forced Irans hand, and now Iran showed the world the absolute power of the Strait that they control... For the future, this is not good, and now Trump needs to find a solution. Because you obviously cannot end this war and let the IRGC have full control of the Strait going forward. But how Trump will solve this will be interesting, it needs to be solved, kinda got no choice now.

And this is why I think this war was such a mistake, because of the Strait (and some other reasons ofc). People are not realizing how difficult a task this will be to free up the Strait... If it were easy, you wouldn't see Trump constantly begging NATO countries to help. EU and the other Arab countries obviously realize the cost of freeing and securing the Strait will be high, something their voters/society probably aren't ready to accept... I dont think the U.S. population is ready for that either. Personally, I dont think we see an invasion to capture the Strait. I think Trump will eventually sign some sort of deal with Iran.

This was Israels war to begin with, the U.S. should've sat this one out.
