Honestly think any person is going down in that situation. The problem was Ganes **** tier defense once he actually got taken down, but the actual process was masterful. Funny because Gane was probably drilling singles/doubles the whole camp and then gets his back taken before he can even see his punch misses and dragged to the ground

In terms of movement I don't think we saw anything, it ended too quickly. Leg kicks looked slow but he himself said he felt Iffy on the feet. I bet he drops some weight for the Stipe fight assuming his gameplan is going to be exploiting the leg kicks rather than wrestlefuk
There wasn't much, but it was a lot at the same time. The biggest thing I saw and was happily surprised to see Jon Jones rewind the clock 10 years just without the abs and a little more jiggle, kinda like me.

I think the most significant part of that video happens between 40-45 seconds, when they go toe to toe for the center of the cage and Jones sends Gane backwards. After that Jones walked him down, manages distance, a variety of unorthodox strikes not intending to land, gets Gane to throw a wild punch at a ghost and Jones is on top of him, game over, the ground game was a thing of beauty. I'm sure Gane was drilling traditional wrestling TDD for hours and hours everyday, but as the defense of single/doubles has progressed with strikers the highest level grapplers have gone more Judo style these days.

I too would have liked to have seen a bit more action, but Jones was feeling the rust and needed to close the show fast because he probably wouldn't have handled a hard shot to the head, not to the nuts, very well.

The forward pressure looked gnarly straight away, he took like one step back the whole fight. I dunno if Ganes camp talked about that but if they didn't that's a miss. The only people that looked good against Jones were people that mitigated it. Going all the way back to Machida.

The striking rust is why I think Jones should offer to bring Gane in to his gym. They'll both benefit, Gane from the grappling obv and Jones from the striking. Gane also has tons of sparring experience against Ngannou and I'd bet my life that fight with Jones happens so i wouldn't be surprised if Jones brings him in.

Lmao, because I made a wrong prediction or because I wasted $100? You're either never wrong or you're broke so it bugs you. My guess is the first is false, and the second is actually true.

Because Gane by sub made 0 fuking sense lol

I told you when you posted it that the odds should've been +5000 in order to bet that, i change my mind it should've been at LEAST +10,000

You took that retarded bet at only +1200 or so. If you make one stupid bet like that I'm sure you've made a lot of other stupid bets. I'd rethink every decision i ever made in life if i made that bet (srs)

absolutely pissening choice

All the great ones are. Jones' mental warfare is a huge part of his game his words and tactics are not accidental. If you don't want to get poked in the eye don't step into his fingers, lol. The first 3 fouls are free anyway so why not use them. It is like hitting foul balls, they don't matter unless they are caught.

Would be interesting but I don't think Jones is that type of dude, the mf'er came out speaking french after making everyone wait an hour at the post fight press conference. Jon has his boys, can't bring in someone like Gane that can't be trusted.

It's kinda sad people keep bringing up the Gane by sub bet when it's obvious the bet was complimentary to the Gane to win by anything bet.

Wasn't he the first to come out or u just joshin lmao

Yeah it prob won't happen but I don't see why not. Gane isn't ever fighting Jones again so there shouldn't be any bad blood or ego. Jones sparring partners from what I saw were fat strong hws for takedown practice, my guess is he brings in leaner strikers for this one.

Exactly brah. But even then it doesn't matter. I bet on parlays with ridic odds all the time not expecting it to happen by any means. It's money I can afford to lose

that's not true. more people said Gane had the advantage on the feet with his striking and movements.

thus the assumption is gane would win by decision. if he were to win.

not sure where people got the idea Gane has subs or grappling.

Sure, to most people Gane by sub was the most unlikely outcome of them all but it was just an extra gamble on top of his main bet for Gane to win.

I think Gane has decent leg locks but I'm not sure if he has anything else. A TKO or decision by Gane was always the more likely outcome over a sub.

Why didn't you bet the fight would be a draw if Gane winning by dec was your prediction?

it would've had more payoff then betting gane by sub

you've literally said a few times you bet Gane by sub as a meme bet.

that's a good point, given the way i had the fight playing out a draw would have been a better gamble especially with chance of a point deduction

but like i said the sub bet wasn't a big deal for me lol. This entire argument is hyperfocusing on me throwing away $100

I was talking about Jones who was the last to speak at the post fight presser after making everyone wait a very long time for him and started out speaking french which I took as mocking Gane.

There are definitely not a whole lot of fighters with Gane's size to train with, but I don't really see what else he brings to the table Jones would be interested in other than the big body to throw around. There is nothing Gane is going to teach Jon Jones. Maybe you are only referring to Gane, but Jon Jones and no ego go together like lamb and tuna fish, haha.

If you are already going in on Gane, the small, long shot side bet for the sub isn't that dumb of a bet. Gane did finish his first 2 UFC fights by sub, granted those were against training dummies. Yea, Gane wasn't going to take Jones down and sub him but I think the possibility was more club and sub.

If betting on Gane to submit was that stupid imagine how stupid it was to throw a small bet on Grasso to submit Valentina! Sounds freakin genius now doesn't it? Anyone know what the odds were on that?

Yes, when you are gambling primarily for the excitement and entertainment value throwing in a small high risk/reward bet really enhances that purpose. Most of the pieces of paper I have paid for in Vegas didn't even make good drink coasters but I had a good time telling those professional athletes on the screen what they are supposed to do and my friends to shut up because my bet was correct not my fault the players sucked, lol

ah fair. Yeah I do rem him saying something in French but I think that was lighthearted. Maybe he doesn't like Gane at all and i'm viewing it diff tho.

I don't mean bringing Gane in to teach Jones anything, but for invaluable sparring practice. Every other HW that could strike close to Gane is a potential threat right now depending on how long Jones stays around. Those big boys he were with are great for grappling but I don't see how it benefits him in the striking department. I expect the Stipe fight to be more standup too

The thing about his ego is it's a pretty peculiar circumstance. If it was a close fight I'd agree, but Jones whooped him in such a fashion I can't imagine there'd be much

That's what I'm saying brah. For the first point that was my exact reasoning, I actually said something like "no chance Gane outgrapples him but there's always a chance he goes for the sub instead of tko in a gnp situation".

the best grapplers become white belts when they're unable to defend themselves. That's how mma works lol
