Talk Me Out of Moving to HILO, Hawaii...

Buy This House as the main house for my bohemian bachelor life style.

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/4...7/560516_zpid/

check out that view.

Demographics of HILO

The largest Hilo racial/ethnic groups are Asian (31.1%) followed by Two or More (29.2%) and White (15.7%).

Mostly Asian and HAOLEs. That sounds like heaven to me.

In 2021, the median household income of Hilo households was $70,356. People are pretty broke. I can take advantage me tinks.

Why would should I not move there? pls tell.

The major problem is the lack of beautiful hbb. that is a very very big problem. Miami looks better in this respect.

I know you’re entire story is a larp but I’ll play along for a second.

You’d go from an absentee parent that you are now to one that’s completely nonexistent living many thousand miles from your kids. Then when you did see your kids it would cost you thousands in plane tickets every time, not to mention days in travel time.

I apologize for responding seriously to a troll

I've been to Hilo, you should do it. It's going to be loud when it rains with that uninsulated metal roof.

Like all tourist spots, visiting can be fun, but never live there.

Everything in Hawaii is expensive, the locals are dumb as f/ck, and the sea water and air will wreck your home.

Hawaii is not the place to build a future.

I have some women who work for me from Cebu City in the Philippines. They were hit by Typhoon Rai end of last year. The reason I bring this up is the next day, Marie sent me a video of all the devastation and her home was on a beautiful beach but construction was so rickety that there was nothing left standing.

I was reminded of this when I looked at that poorly constructed Zillow house.

DO NOT move to Hilo. Expensive AF and you will get bored real quick. Locals don't like you unless you're local. Jobs are mostly in the tourism industry. It's basically the redneck version of Oahu.

I was born and raised on Oahu but used to visit relatives in a part of Hilo called Hawaiian Paradise Park every few months. LOVED it there but they were rich and that area is not like most of Hawaii.

Hilo pros:
*Green and beautiful
*Not as populated as other parts of Hawaii
*Great hiking
*Great fishing
*Close to volcano national park, fun to visit
*Great if you can afford a home in a *nice* area

Hilo cons:
*Lots of methheads, Hilo has a growing crime problem
*Expensive COL, low paying jobs
*No real beaches, more rocky coastline
*No good surfing because the island is too young and the beaches and reefs haven't developed like Kauai, Oahu, and Maui
*Attractive women are in short supply
*Too much grey, rain and humidity

I always loved visiting Hilo but I'd never move there.

Rains like a motherfuker in Hilo, maybe Kona would be better on the other side if you need to be on the BI.

Also make sure the property is “fee simple” and not “leasehold”

As people get older and think about retirement etc the truth usually comes to them. Although oftentimes too late.
