It's like Trapstar said in the game thread though, we're setting up for a really high draft pick even though we're a better team than our indiciates. Getting a better pick than we deserve isn't a bad thing, but I'd like to see some more Ws go up instead of Ls.
It's sickening that we got rid of Kasay because his range was weak, yet we sign a guy and won't let him kick FG's outside of 40 yards… at least Kasay was for the most part automatic within 40.

Are there any stud LB's this draft? I already know the story on DT's, none that impressive, but I don't know much about 4-3 LB prospects.

Once again we might be revamping the entire defensive front.

I don't watch much college football so I can't really say.

And I hated to see Kasay go too. What exactly has Mare given us that Kasay couldn't? One free loss and maybe a few extra touchbacks? Big deal. Our defense doesn't stop anyone anyway so the touchbacks don't really mean ****, just a little extra yardage on the opponents QB/RB stats by the end of the game.

sucks were losing but thankfully mostof our losses have been by a small margin of points. I think in a few years this team will be a potential superbowl team. We have a really young team with some extreme talent. The only thing that sucks is smitty is getting old but I can garuntee they wont let cam go without an awesome reciever. Lafell has stepped up alot and gettis should be another decent option for cam next year. We have proven we can play with the best teams offensively its just our defense that has let us down but thats to be expected with beason out, no clear # 2 corner and terrrrible Dts.

I could see the Panthers drafting Quinton Coples in the 5-10 range as a DT(3/4 technique) for the 3-4 defense. That's his strong suit. Then pick a DT to play nose in the second round. Just my 2cents.

Could see it, maybe.. Since Rivera is a defensive wizard I'll trust whoever he takes, not to worried about position since we could use an upgrade at just about every single defensive position except MLB, SLB, and SS. Martin is alright but I can see him getting replaced if the right guy falls in our lap.

Going to be a much more boring Sunday (though I like watching plenty of other teams play) with the boys sitting this week out.

yeah bye weeks suck

oh well, I get to watch the 49ers/Redskins game or Jets/Bills here, so it should still be fun. I hope the team gets their **** together over the bye week and makes a good run. Not for the playoffs or anything, but I'd like to end the season on a positive note. It'd take us out of top draft pick contention, but I think winning THIS YEAR when everyone counted us out would do wonders for next year.

Anybody think that Cam's swag will have a bigger effect than just his play on the field? Like, Charlotte will become a more desirable place for free agents (especially offensively) because of him? It just seems that the draw of playing with him would be pretty big with a lot of these guys in the league. I know that money will always be the biggest lure, but I'm hoping that as his reputation grows so will his drawing power for other players.

Yeah, it's the bye and I don't have jack to talk about right now.

for sure, and i think that the coaching staff will be more likely to go for a big time receiver to replace smith knowing that they can trust cam. Carolina isnt a big market but i believe Cam can and will be the difference maker in it.

Cam can grow Charlotte into a bigger market

Charlotte is a bigger sports town than most people give credit for, just different sports (epicenter for NASCAR)

Charlotte is a city that loves sports but will not come out for a bad team. It happened with the Hornets, it happened to the Panthers last year, it will happen to any team that puts a **** product on the field. To be honest I LIKE that about Charlotte.

I agree I think Cam will be drawing crowds for the next 10-12 years and make the team a destination team for players. What deep threat doesn't want a QB with a cannon?

yeah for sure. that "entertainer and icon" thing is 100% correct. it WILL make Charlotte a more attractive destination for free agents. speaking of free agents…

fap fap fap at the thought of Vincent Jackson signing with us next year. Jackson(6'5) on one side, Gettis(6'3, fastest guy on the team) on the other side, and Smitty in the slot…. oh dear lawd.

No, but Jackson is an unrestricted free agent next year, and given our coaching staff being obsessed with bringing in Chargers players… I could definitely see it.

I can point you in the direction of a VJax clone coming out of college that can be drafted in the 2nd-3rd round and be had for cheaper…also a better route runner than VJax (he is not that great of a route runner, lets be honest)

That DWill contract is looking pretty ****ing stupid. I know it was to let the fans know they care about winning/etc, but damn, if we cut him we will take a $21 million dollar cap hit.

You almost have to consider doing something now(I mean this offseason) so we'll have cap space for Stewart when he's a FA. Stewart is better in virtually every aspect and is a FA in 2013, cannot afford to let him leave.

We already have $116,842,357 committed towards the cap in 2012, and we've got some decent free agents we'll probably have to resign(Shockey for example). The estimated cap in 2012 is $125 million… ugh. Hurney is going to have to work some magic if we want to have ANY room for a decent free agent after signing our draft picks.

Couple things:

1) Cam was inaccurate with his deep passes and it hurt us. Expected with a rookie QB though.
2) Loved the 1st half screen game. Our RB are GREAT in space and I've never understood why we didn't use it more. THen we stopped…
3) Defense is awful. Awful

I just don't understand how you can completely abandon the run when it was working so well. Chud/Rivera's play calling was atrocious when we had the lead, especially considering it was quite obvious Cam's accuracy was off today.

It's whatever. That much closer to Matt Kalil.

Next week we could enter the suck for luck race if we lose to Indy(at this point, I can't see any team in the NFL that can't put up 30+ on the Panthers D).

At least if that happens we can get a ****load of draft picks.

I just don't understand what happens to our defense in the second half. The first half of most games, the defense plays horrible, but we still manage to keep it close for the most part. I mean, really? This time we had dozens of forced turnovers, and even a ****ing kick return for God's sake, and we still can't pull it out in the end. So annoyed with this season. We don't HAVE to be this bad.

Because our play calling goes to **** after the first half. It has the entire year. I mean you can't put this loss on the offense, you can't ask them to score more than 35 points a game. Even the elite offenses of the NFL can't do that, ours is lead by a rookie QB. Better play calling could have put this game away EARLY if we just ran the ****ing ball more.

looking at the bright side…

-Cam came through late in the 4th with that TD and the 2 point conversion.
-DeAngelo looked as good as I've ever seen him
-First kick return touchdown since 2003 lol
-The offense putting up 35 points is impressive even if it was a loss
