So stoked. Being realistic, we're probably not going to look good in the win column, but dammit I haven't been this excited about the team in a loooong time. The energy of the team in the first preseason game was un-****ing-real. Someone made a good point on the Panthers forum. In the John Fox era, with less than a minute left before the half, Fox would undoubtedly just let the clock run out and take his chances in the second half. Rivera called a timeout, and it ended up leading to a field goal.

It's clear that the Cam era will begin soon. I really hope that Jimmy can start the season and have several solid games, showing great strides and impressing some team enough to throw us a second or third round pick (probably a little to optimistic here) next offseason, in a way like Kolb did with Philly.
Either way it was good to see the boys. I hope we get that 2nd corner locked down. We have the best linebacker corps in the entire NFL.

The biggest factor of all, will be the coaching, and for the better.

His college system set him back a lot, the dude has basically never really had to even read coverages, let alone change protection schemes and audible/hot route, etc. If Jimmy can not turn the ball over he's definitely our best option right out of the gate, I'd think. But or division is brutal for such a young team. I'll hope for the best but not expect that. Either way we should be much much improved over last year, even if it doesn't always show up in Wins and Losses.

Any of you brahs trying to get tickets to any of the games this year? I went to the Ravens at Carolina last year. Thank goodness I like the Ravens in the AFC because otherwise it'd have been miserable. No DWill, no JStew. Baltimores defense outscored our offense (serious). I think I'm going to have to try to hook up some tickets again this year for sure.

Atlanta was pretty tough though but we were plagued with injuries after all. I think now that our LB core is back and healthy, we'll be able to contain Freeman a little better and get more pressure on him, because that guy single handedly beat us last year, running all over the place and extending plays. None of our guys could tackle him. Hopefully Beason and Davis shut him down this year. But yeah, the toughest games will be those 5 or 6, plus Packers, Colts and Texans. But with this new defense, you never know. We could hit some of these teams in the mouth and force some turnovers. Anything can happen. All teams are beatable.

srs question is srs. why don't we bring in a vet WR like Owens or Moss? We don't even necessarily need someone with speed, just a PROVEN pass catcher. Remember the year we had the superbowl run we had Muhsin (possession receiver) with Smith on the other side. I know we have Shockey and Olsen now, and that should improve the pass game tremendously, but lettuce be cereal. Lafell had maybe one great catch last season, Gettis is out for the year. We have a few young guys like Edwards competing for number two but like I said, a proven guy would be a perfect addition. Thoughts?

Guys like that don't always make your team better. Moss needs to be on a winner or he'll check out. Owens is hurt.
They cost money
It's hard to judge WR talent when Jimmy clauson is throwing the ball

And yeah I know they'd want to play for a winning team, but do you think with the buzz around Cam (unproven as of now) could possibly change that? A 1 yr deal perhaps? I mean, I'm sure a big part of the reason Smith stayed was to play with Cam right?

TO has the injury thing. Wasn't much else to be had (Steve smith v2 is injured, too).

Sick pictures.
Do not want Randy or TO. If we're not competing for a playoff spot there is no reason to roll the dice with either of those guys to come in and take playing time from a developing younger player. I don't think Randy would want to come anyway, he's holding out for a contender. The receivers will figure it out The running game is what's going to take pressure off of Smitty, not a mediocre aged out veteran receiver.

Greg Olsen will take the pressure off Smith, dude is a beast in the passing game. Anyone else notice that Olsen was lining up at*receiver*during the first preseason game?

First post since banned camp. I'm not a Panthers fan but after watching that preseason game I think Cam has potential to be a good quarterback. He had some great throws just needs to work on reading different coverages. He could turn out to be something special.

Defense could be nasty this year once all the starters are playing. Smash n Dash should be back to 08/09 form. Smitty should be rejuvenated. Armanti could be a pro bowler at PR…G-Reg gonna tear up the middle. we might shock some people

who remembers this game?
one reason I prefer Cam over Jimmy is Cam seems more prone to take chances down field. I know Favre'ing it and launching it up for the receiver is not good, but with Smitty, he wins more jumpballs than not. Jimmy would just drop back, see Smitty is covered, roll out, throw ball out of bounds.

Lettuce be reality, with the addition of Cam, Jimmy's days are numbered anyway. Maybe 3 or 4 games that show significant improvement so that maybe some other desperate team wants him next off season, similar to the Kolb situation (though I know he'd never net even close to that value). Just a thought.
