It's honestly dedication. Think about it.. As sick as it might sound (andis) it is indeed a talent. Pushing yourself beyond eating/chewing failure. Taxing your digestive system more than a human is designed to do etc. Some of them are 40+ which in itself is a miracle of nature.

I was JUST thinking this yesterday while eating at a restaurant. You do not get 100 lb overweight by accident. No one wakes up and become that fat over night. It takes years of continually overeating and not working out. Wouldn’t they at some point, idk, maybe 10-15 lb in realize that they’re going in the wrong direction? I moved recently and gained 4 lb in 8 weeks. So last night I actually got rid of all the chips in my apartment. A good diet starts at the grocery store.

Some people think it’s shallow to not want to date obese people too. Also don’t get that, if you’re obese I assume you gave no self control or discipline, and either you’re unable to recognize issues as they arise or you are unwilling to put in the work to fix them. All those are not traits I’d want to be around with for very long.
They said she's gone too far this time

You are correct, healthy people (using the term loosely, no seriously health issues) don't get that big without notice. Most people notice and do something about it. Eating garbabe also doesn't help and best part is instant loser is a crybaby FA

You don't sound very compassionate at all.

Alcohol, cigarettes and food are the biggest sources of legal addiction in our society. When you start eating processed food or food with sugar or salt, it triggers dopamine in the brain.

Counting calories is the worst thing that food addicts can do, as it triggers the addiction mentality, and the constant yo-yoing of dieting and regaining the weight.

There's a body positive movement that nutritionists are pushing for people to be slightly overweight and stop the yo-yo mentality, without tracking every morsel in their mouth and thus regaining the weight. It's better that people be slightly overweight than obese.

If you naturally have a low level of dopamine, or have severe depression or cannot handle these high stress jobs throwing people in tiny cubicles with a boss breathing down your neck, then it's so easy to

There are just healthier alternatives to self self soothe over food. People just haven't learned these alternatives.

while sure it's better to be slightly overweight than obese, it's even better to be an actual healthy weight - which is possible for everyone.

Of course it's possible, but nutritionists were putting their clients on a deficit, only to see them gain the weight back after the diet is over.

What's the point of that. If the person is healthy without high cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, then why put them through the yo-yoing, which we know will increase weight over time.

Plus we're on a bodybuilding forum. Who cares about weight on here. It's all about body fat %.

I know the OP is regarding morbidly obese.

Sugary and salty food is a drug that increases dopamine, just like ******* does.

Morbid obesity is mental illness, 100% serious.

The answer to how they get there is exactly the same as how people become schizophrenic or depressed.

My sister has been obese since she was @25. Developed many health issues including diabetes because of her weight. Now she gets @$1800/mo for "disability".

This is just wrong. I love my sister, but this is wrong.

I think there was a Simpson's episode where Homer realize if he got just a bit fatter, he wouldn't have to work any more and still get paid.....by people that work. AKA....tax money. Lets all do this. See how that works out.

I can't fathom how much food you would have to be putting down your gullet daily to get this big.

That's the issue. Their brain is working against them. It's not a poor way of reconciling, it's just truth. Not all, but many morbidly obese people don't want to be fat. We are the products of our environment to some extent. For some this is more true than with others. Pretty ignorant circle jerk going on in here. Contrary to what you guys think is a trendy "feedee" era; most morbidly obese people don't want to be morbidly obese. I would argue that their mentalityisa quantifiable neurological illness. Obesity develops from a combination of environmental effects and genotype/phenotype. That is a fact. I am not calling them genetically fat. I am calling them genetically weak minded.

One piece of the puzzle is DeltaFosB: is a protein which reconfigures the nervous system to erode willpower in the presence of a trigger. I worked with rats in a lab setting that possessed an over expression of DeltaFosB, and they had zero ability to back off of their "addictions." Similarly, this protein is expressed differently among individuals. The morbidly obese often are also victims of hypofrontality. How much is due to lifestyle and how much is due to genetics is up for debate. I have very low expression of DeltaFosB and not surprisingly, have extremely high "will power". So I can't really empathize with someone who has something otherwise.

Many of these morbidly obese individuals possess a physiology which ensures they "get it while the getting is good". This was an advantage in times when food was scarce... but today? Well fuk.

I still can't stand fat ****s though and really don't give a rat's ass how they got to be so disgustingly ****ing groce.

here's a bizarre fact for you.

The Simpsons.

Specifically episode "King Size Homer" - where Homer deliberately gains weight to go on disability.

Know what weight Homer has to get up to?

300lbs.

Meaning that at start of episode (when he's already fat) he's 240lbs.

And this was seen as huge at the time (mid 90s) - i know it's only animation, but HOLY CHIT how standards have slipped in past 20 years.

I dont even take excuses into consideration anymore. As soon as I hear them begin I just label the person making them as weak, move on and refuse to offer any more help or advice.
