Good win today. Glad Cam will get to break the rookie passing record at home next week.

Also, as it stands now, we're lingering around the 9th or 10th pick in the draft next year. Could go up or down of course. I'd rather win out and end the season on a positive note at 7-9.

strong leadership by Cam there, right before the drive that put the game out of reach…

I hope we can finish 7-9 even though it likely takes us out of that blue chip prospect area in the draft.

can't wait till tomorrow… I saw that if JStew rushes for 6 yards, we will be like the 3rd team in NFL history to have 3 600+ yard rushers. One of those was the Falcons with Vick in 2006, the other was the Patriots in 1978.

7-9 is within reach!

If we finish 7-9 it's going to be really exciting but also really bittersweet because I can think of at least 3 games that we should have locked up that we BLEW… The Mare debacles, the Cardinals game, the Lions game, etc etc. If you think about that seriously w could have pushed 10 wins this year… which is incredible. Either way I've loved watching them play again, win or lose, and that's more than I could say about the last several seasons. Times are getting good again and I'm glad I'm on board.

We could so easily be in the playoff race right now. I agree, so bittersweet. Take away some injuries and bone head plays and we're at a much better record.

I've been telling my friends we are a playoff team next year and within 3 years we will be in superbowl contention. Hardly any if them disagree. However, I expect Cam to struggle next year with teams having a years worth of film on him.

Who do you guys want in the draft? I think we are solid on D if everyone can stay healthy. Would like to see some offensive weapons in the first few rounds to surround Cam. Would love to get Blackmon and maybe Dwight Jones if he is available.

We can pick up solid defenders in later rounds.

I honestly think it'll be fine. If we still had beason and Thomas, the two most important people on our defense, we would be much, much better defensively.

The only defensive position I would be happy with us using a high pick on would be a defensive end to go opposite of Johnson.

Smith is getting old (I know it's said every year) but we need some more people to throw it too. Blackmon is a beast if he falls to us. LaFell is alright and Nene shows promise but neither is going to be a star. Our O line could use a bit of work too.

I think we'll go with defense. I wouldn't be upset with Blackmon by any means and then draft D the rest of the draft pretty much but WR isn't really a need right now and next year we'll be getting Gettis back as well.

Keep in mind we are very possibly converting to a 3-4 defense next year and that alone will hugely impact our draft needs. Specifically a NT if we go that route unless there is a FA that we pick up and we'd probably need some OLB help.

This sums it up for me. By no means would I be disappointed, but we need help on defense or we're not making the playoffs. Outside of Johnson, Anderson, and Gamble the defense is severely lacking even with Beason coming back.

I think everyone has forgotten about Gettis since he has been in IR since training camp. Same with Ron Edwards. We actually have our NT(a couple actually) just the main has been on IR since the 2nd day of camp

Kearse is a big NT and Shirley could be too

wow, so what are you going to do with Charles Johnson? He is a darn good 43 DE, but he strikes me as more Andre Carter and less Mario Williams. That's a helluva time to toss a huge contract his way, right before you switch to a 3-4.

also, this is not a good season to do it. No real blue chip NT prospects and really only 1 or maybe 2 worthwhile 3-4 OLBs. Green Bay picked the perfect time to make the switch to 3-4

I don't know if I'm a fan of the 3-4. I don't know how Johnson, who's having a great year, will be as effective. We grabbed two decent DTs last year and Fua is big enough to be a NT if needed.

The NFL philosophy is to draft unproven offensive fire power and to sign proven veterans to shore up the defense.

You only use first few round picks on defensive players if they're special. Guys like Peppers, Suh, Petersen. I'm pretty confident we will draft in the order if WR, OL, then what evs.

I don't think it is a for sure thing..it was speculated mid-season when our D was sucking balls, but they've gotten the act together. we run some 3-4 looks though usually with Johnson and Hardy and down DE and Applewhite as the OLB

I think we stick with 4-3 because our LB are too big of playmakers when healthy

It's not a sure thing but has been mentioned. We don't have the tools for it, that's for sure and it would really hurt our best players on defense as well (Johnson/Beason specifically). We show looks every now and then but I don't see any reason to make the transition especially since we are close to playoff contention in my opinion and that would be a gigantic setback due to us not having hardly any of the pieces needed on the DLine and with the linebackers.

word. I mean yeah some of our guys could probably move to a 3-4 and keep up a high level of play(Beason, Johnson) but it's completely unnecessary. our defense will improve SIGNIFICANTLY just getting guys back from IR, Beason and Ron Edwards specifically. factor in the draft and there is no reason to panic and completely change schemes. I hate saying it but our defense gets a lot of unfair blame for our losses when being completely honest Cam's turnovers have played a huge factor in quite a few of the losses more than the defense.

don't get me wrong, the defense is turrible, but I'm confident they can turn it around without changing schemes.

anyone else think Brandon Hogan could be our #2 CB in the future? that play last week where he shoved the guy out of bounds and ignored him, then pointed it out to the ref after the play and got a TD reversed? that's a ****in outstanding veteran play and he's a rookie. I remember reading Hogan had a 2nd round grade but dropped due to injuries/character concerns.

I really like how LaFell has come along and I wish he'd get more opportunities. He makes a lot of big plays for us. Just seems like with Naanee you know what you're going to get and he's not going to be anything more than that. But with LaFell it seems like he could be more than that so I don't really know why he's not taken over yet unless he just has trouble grasping the playbook or something.

LaFell fits this offense so ****ing perfectly. The thing with him is, everyone knew he could block. He is one of the best blocking WR's in the NFL, his problem was always catching and I know he was VERY inconsistent dropping passes and **** in practice which is why he didn't get the starting nod until late into the season. I think he's got one of the best catch percentages in the NFL now though so he's taken major strides in that area.

I know Gettis is coming back, but I think LaFell has earned the #2 nod going into next year. If Blackmon falls to us I think we have to take him because he'd obviously be the BPA, but WR is moving down the list of needs IMO.

He had a reputation for making some great and terrible plays at LSU. He's a great #3 WR and hopefully keeps improving because he makes some incredible plays

Nanee got more PT early on because he knew the playbook and was helping everyone on the field…now LaFell is getting his PT and is making the most of it, as we just saw. Think about next year when Gettis comes back. We'll have Smitty, LaFell, Gettis, Nanee, Edwards, Pilares at WR. All of them wil have had a year to get to know the offense. Add in Olsen, Shockey(needs to be resigned), Stew and DWill

Hopefully the development of him and Gettis (or Blackmon if it turns out that way) will extend Smitty's career if he ends up moving into the slot in his twilight. I know we always talk about Smitty and the aging process but the guy hasn't slowed a bit but I guess eventually it has to happen, just doesn't seem like it will be any time soon.
