I'm intelligent, love quotes, and love deep chit ... but what he posted is just a little too much. I prefer chit like:
"Solitude did increase my perception. But here’s the tricky thing—when I applied my increased perception to myself, I lost my identity. With no audience, no one to perform for, I was just there. There was no need to define myself; I became irrelevant. The moon was the minute hand, the seasons the hour hand. I didn’t even have a name. I never felt lonely. To put it romantically: I was completely free." - North Pond Hermit
"Nothing can resist the human will that will stake even its existence on its stated purpose." - Benjamin Disraeli
"You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger." - Buddha
"I am not who you think I am; I am not who I think I am; I am who I think you think I am." - Cooley

"We are most critical of things that we fear to become."
We're all basically almost always projecting outwards, getting a reflection back, and that makes up our reality.
EDIT
Anyone find his quote hard to read because you feel like its missing a comma or "that"?
"God is the mode of being you value the most as demonstrated or manifested in your presumption, perception and action."
vs
"God is the mode of being... thatyou value the most as demonstrated or manifested in your presumption, perception and action."
^^ way better imo

This is absolutely meaningless word salad. You could replace the word "God" with virtually any other appropriately connected word, and it would mean just as much or as little.

Peterson is one of the few people who I really struggle to comprehend. My ego wants me to believe that its him that is the problem, not me, hes just not a good communicator. However it is pretty clear that he is just much much cleverer than I am, his intellectual plane is just far beyond my own. I will be listening to him and the way he structures his thoughts is so precise its almost impenetrable for the listener but within those thoughts are some of the most brilliant observations of humanity and modern society Ive ever heard. He truly is one of the great thinkers of our time.

I had the pleasure of working with a guy that was one of the smartest individuals (engineer/scientist) I've ever met. What amazed me most though was his ability to convey ideas to even the most ignorant and unlearned people.
One of the reasons i think Jesus/Christianity was so successful was that complex ideas were often made more palatable with parables and stories so that anyone could understand.

I'm not a huge fan of organized religion in general. But you can't deny that it was also instrumental in recording and passing down knowledge (monks & literacy & books & universities) throughout the ages. Heck, it was a catholic priest/scientist that came up with the "Big Bang" theory. Peterson is neither on one side or the other... he's just a seeker of knowledge/wisdom/truth.

I'll be honest, at first I thought this was about Peterson's ideas. But you never intended to have a conversation about what the tweet meant or anything else. And after seeing how seething mad you are, I realized it's just about politics. You made this post because you're just a liberal who's mad at Peterson's politics.

Xe is literally Hitler.
btw, notice how doughnutking won't even answer simple questions. We still haven't heard his interpretation of the tweet he's REEEing about, despite being asked repeatedly to explain. He won't even address a simple yes/no question, that being whether someone being an atheist somehow automatically makes them intellectually superior to any of faith.
He's such a coward he won't even say, "Atheists are more likely to have a higher IQ and be more educated than a Christian, so most of the time they're smarter/better intellectually, but no not necessarily all the time" -- he's such an intellectual coward he can't even say that, so don't worry too much about doughnutking, his opinions or his lack of an avitar on bb.com.
JPeterson probably avoids Religion because he knows there are fundamental atheists out there who are so stupid that they somehow think having faith automatically shuts down anything/everything a person says or thinks.
Morons, essentially, and he deals with more than enough idiots already.

"He's not smart!", yes, we got your opinion on that the first go-around. In the meantime, I'm not that familiar with Peterson beyond an appearance here-or-there on Rogan's podcast, but I saw arguments and context from that little exposure, so it would seem likely you're just upset at his dismantling of something, whether it's modern feminism, identity politics or something else Peterson is (thankfully) speaking against.

There just isnt anything deep or profound about such statements.....they are merely the substance of definition. Definitions, themselves, are of course arbitrary, and are just games of words. Why there are people eating this stuff up boggles the mind.
There is a lot of babble out there in the subject of philosophy unfortunately.

I'm looking forward to hearing the Sam Harris and Peterson debate. They disagree but at least Sam Harris makes an argument. So many of the worthless buffoons in here just deflect why they hate him like it's their job and ignore any/all questions about why.

He also seems to use God in the same way that Islam does, meaning... They believe that there is a true God, but we can worship many false Gods (eg. money, status, sex, revenge, hatred, narcissism, etc).
Theologian Emmanuel Swedenborg also said:"The nature of our love determines the nature of our life, and in fact our entire nature of as a human being"Which is what I think he was getting at.
To Swedenborg there were 4 primary types of love:
1)Love of God and 2)Love of our neighbour (Which he says is the love of benevolence. Because God's nature is Benevolence. So to love God is to love and guide your life by benevolence. Because it connects a person to God, because it is God's nature.)
2) Love of the world. (The love of sensual pleasures eg; Food, comfort, material goods, sex.)
3) Love of the self. (A love of a sense of superiority over others. The love of high social status. The love of significance.)
(FWIW Swedenborg says that the Love of the world, and the love of the self are fine, if the love of Benevolence is our primary life value, because that means that the others will kept in moderation, or even be useful in regards to practicing Benevolence.)

That's the conclusion I came to (Tim Ferris and Philosopher Alain De Botton agree with me), that a lot of philosophy is comprised of arguments about definitions. Often arguing about how precise definitions.
That was my impression anyway.
I like the path that Alain De Botton went down, he wanted to promote and build what someone called 'therapeutic philosophy', a field of philosophy that is useful to people in their daily lives, and gives guidance for people on how to live their lives. Stoicism is an example of therapeutic philosophy, even in Ancient Greece when arguments about metaphysics, ontology and epistemology were rife, the Stoics were primarily concerned about how to cope with suffering, and how to live a fulfilling life.
I remember I got a philosophy student really pissed off with me when I wrote the above (in a far more less nuanced form though), in another forum.
IMO western philosophy is for people who like to have very abstract arguments.

He is more interested in the psychological and metaphorical (even Darwinistic) truth of the religious traditions.

That to survive and flourish, we need to commit the naturalist fallacy (ie. deriving a value from a fact). Although logically speaking it's nonsense to do so, he seem to argue that without deriving an imperative from a observation (the naturalistic fallacy), we wouldn't have the impetus to survive as nomadic groups and begin to create civilization.
He says that religion creates an impetus, because it appeals to cognitive, psychological, and physiological aspects our nature simultaneously (the art, stories, rituals, communal rituals, calender events).
Michael Dowd is friend of Loyal Rue's and is a Christian Preacher who doesn't literally believe in Christianity, but he believes it's useful and leads to a fulfilling life to be Religious. He uses God as a personification metaphor for the processes of the universe, that creates a sense of relationship to reality. He also believes that things like prayer are useful therapeutically.
Loyal Rue also seems to make the case that without a religion of some kind consumerism (I would also add careerism) will become our new 'religion' . Consumerism and Careerism will become our primary guidance for our personal development, how we structure our lives, and how we view relationships. I think Loyal (and other religious thinkers who have said the same thing) are right. (I've noticed that the personal development field could probably be called the 'how to make more money, or become an executive' field.)
I think that this video brilliantly (and satirically) shows what happens when consumerism and careerism dominate a society...

Edit: Forgot to add; Loyal Rue simultaneously makes the case for Religious Naturalism.

That's the point that you will find massive amounts of disagreement on. I'm curious what you mean by that?
Disagreements have been raging for centuries upon centuries.
