I liked The Force Awakens and Rogue One but The Last Jedi was absolute dogchit. Singlehandedly killed the franchise for me. I used to collect the actual physical movies but it instantly killed any desire to own them going forward.

The thing that still baffles me with that ****ty TLJ movie is that they killed off Luke but kept Leia alive at the end. You kept a dead actors character alive... wtf?

I'm sure they have hundreds of hours of unused footage from the movie and previous one that they could use to completely reddit the entire movie. If i were head of Disney i would seriously consider disavowing TLJ, recut the footage, release the movie again, and possibly give out rebates to disgruntled vans. They need to face the reality that if they don't do it ... the franchise which they paid billions for may never recover.

If they did all that... I'd seriously consider paying to see future Star Wars movies. As of now, I absolutely refuse to support that trash in any way.

The problem is guys like Rian Johnson refuse to believe that the movie has any flaws and all of the complaints are simply fanboys or trolls. I wish someone would sit him down "Clockwork Orange style" and have him watch this compilation of complaints;

When people from all walks of life have the exact same complaints in a movie, maybe there's something worth looking into instead of dismissing it as "trolls"

Sadly, TLJ has deleted footage on the blu-ray, but it doesn't make the movie any better.

I hope that Hollywood doesn't touch them.

IMO the Old Republic shorts they do, are 10 times better than the latest parts of the franchise (apart from Rogue One, I legit think that is the only worthy addition to the original trilogy).

For those unaware of how good the Old Republic shorts are:

1 and 5 could be the actual plot anyway. Brb snoke was doing a force projection when he "died". Brb Kylo lied about Rey's parents because he wanted her to join his side. But I think it's kind of cool if she is a nobody

I think using episode 9 to rewrite and undo episode 8 would just make it even worse. He should just do his best with the cards he's been dealt imo

Also makes the generals/strategists look like complete morons. Why not just kamikaze a ship through lightspeed straight into the Deathstar? Just dumb
This. I always thought of hyperspace as another dimension of space that you can travel through faster than the speed of light but is affected by gravitational mass shadows in real space. Hence you have to plot your course, a star would pull you out of hyperspace if you go too close.

Being able to jump to hyperspace and ram another ship DOES make all the previous space battles fairly well redundant.

And that's just one of the retarded things in the last jedi.

LOL. Luke is dead as a character, even if you reincarnated him. This scene killed him forever and probably retroactively ruined the middle 3 films as well.

This fan tribute changed my mind a little on the TLJ Luke saga, which I had up until recently also thought to be completely chit. There IS a character arc though it doesn't redeem the rest of the clusterphuck of VIII.

This franchise died after the original three. The cartoons and the books have been okay. Every movie since then has been an utter disaster. Some redeeming scenes like when Darth Maul whipped out the double bladed lightsaber etc, but in general, it's been turrible.

It's too late to save the new "trilogy" IMO.

Initially I thought it was a bad idea, but they just need to recast Luke, Han, Leia post-ROTJ and do the Thrawn trilogy, that is the number 1 way to save this franchise ATM. Then they keep making movies like Rouge One on the side.

Edit: Someone posted KOTOR above, that would also work - do something farrrr away from having anything to do with the originals. They poisoned the well HARD of mixing the new **** and the old movies at this point, that needs to go.

Err no, OP. Star Wars died when Walt Disnee got his hands on it. Removing the old canon and making itlegendsdestroyed the equivalent of 1million Terabytes of content. Nothing they do now can be good unless it involves the Old Republic, before the Sith's rule of two.

Keep quiet we will have you know we had Rian Johnson take the reins of this masterpiece. He’s known for his legendary timeless movies such as Looper and Brick.

I'm not a Star Wars fan, but at this juncture, the only real new hope would be to:
(A) Pretend Episode VIII didn't exist and make another one.

(B) Retconeverythingfrom Episode VIII to the point that Episode IX might as well be Episode VIII.

(C) Reboot Episode VII, start over with a brand new store featuring no Mary Sues and starring Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford from the start.

(D) Stop. Just... you're done. Cut your losses because you blew your load,Mouse, now scrap episode IX and just make stories set before or during the original trilogy, spin-offs, and basically work to scrub the world's collective memory of those two abortions before trying again from scratch.

Although I'm not invested in the franchise regardless, at least option (C) opens up brand new possibilities while salvaging two beloved film characters instead of piling even more scheisse upon their cinematic graves. Hell, Episode VII was pretty much a giant Star Wars remix that offered nothing noteworthy to begin with, so it's not as though they'd be losing anything of value.

They screwed themselves from the beginning by having JJ "Mystery Box" Abrams write a bunch of random nonsense for XII without a f**k-all clue as to where his menagerie of threads would logically lead towards. Lucas might have had some batty, often downrighthorribleideas, but at least he had a planned sequence of events building off of one another towards an actual ending.

Subsequently, Rian Johnson pretty much had carte blanche to do whatever the hell he felt like becauseKennedyand co. didn't have a plan written out, so just film a bunch of stuff that can be turned into toys.

What's a real laugh is that now they're handing the seriesbackto JJ Abrams, as though this hack who has never been able to put together an ending after his incessant mystery box opening plan has finally run its course will be able to piece together not just one but nowtwoclusterf**ks that are supposed to somehow also have any semblance of closure.

Typically, a sequel of a planned trilogy might suffer from a shaky second act syndrome in which they merely serve to set up the final conclusion rather than be able to stand alone as a solid entry - by everything I've heard of TLJ, it's like Rian Johnson somehow managed to make a sequel awful enough to (1) fail as a standalone film, (2) retroactively lessen the previous installment, and (3) set up the final film to be in an untenable position to explain how all three parts form a semi-coherent arc. How do you successfully tell a three part story if the middle act went on a bender and kamikaze'd itself between the first and last acts?

When I heard about that, I had to do a double-take. Rian Johnson has to be a fukking moron to stick with that decision instead of asking Disney for time to reshoot and bring Luke back from his sorry-ass death.

After hearing Mark Hamill speak against what they did to Luke before Mickey presumably had a little "talk" with him to stop badmouthing XII before it was even out, it was like listening to a broken man who was still trying to rationalize just how broken he had become.
I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine

They butchered Luke's character pretty bad in TLJ. I get the failure and teacher theme they were trying to do for him, but it didn't make sense given what we know about Luke from the originals.

He's never been the type to give up. In fact, his failure stems from the fact that he always tried too hard, diving into situations where patience was the correct call. He learns that by the end of Empire, so when ROTJ begins, we can see he's grown, he understands patience a little bit better, and finally uses that to his advantage to beat the emperor.

But then we get to TLJ, the reintroduction of Luke, and he's forgotten all of that. He gives up at the first hardship with everyone he interacts with, even going so far as trying to destroy someone close to him that he's failed, something old Luke would NEVER have done. We see all of this, and we, the viewers, are like WTF is this, what have they done with Luke ****ing Skywalker? So Luke has to go on this character arc to learn something that was already fundamental to who he was. It doesn't make sense imo.

I'm pretty mind blown that history's greatest IP was executed so fukin poorly and without any clear plan whatsoever. Especially when Marvel is achieving massive success with the grand scale coordination of the plot and story, literally at the same time this new SW trilogy is being made.

Somehow Disney thought it would be cool to let directors step on each others toes, and fire anyone who disagreed with Kennedy. They deserve every bit of criticism.

If somehow JJ manages to undo all to bs from TLJ on IX, I'll be impressed... I won't go to the theater though.
