I've never even been into kids and was perfectly happy not having one...ever. My wife wanted one so I did it (literally). I didn't cry when she was born and there were very few deep emotions the first year or so. She's just an eating, sleeping, pooping machine at that point IMO so its no big deal. Its when she started interacting with the world around her that it got me, and gets me more and more the older she gets and the more she learns/does. And out of nowhere I suddenly see the "cuteness" in other kids and small animals that I never saw before.

I know these feels. Currently have a foster son and it took a while for me to emotionally connect with him, but seeing his little gummy smile every time I come home from work makes me tear up. Currently trying to get him to say dada before my sloot wife can brainwash him into saying mama first like she did with my daughter.

I held our friend's baby for the first time almost a year ago (only 4 months old). Legit started welling up. If people weren't around I would have cried. Not even my own child and I had emotions.

My 4 year old makes me so proud and happy I can't even put it into words.

Been singing Metallica and Ozzy since he was 2, hums the Iron Man riff to everything, throws metal horns in the air when his picture is taken, always wants to lift weights downstairs, tells me to score 10 goals when I go play hockey, has the most innocent and adorable thoughts. All you dads can relate, I know. It's nothing unique but the specificity of them are unique to us, which is what it's all about.

I look at him being 4 and think back to when he was just an infant and can hardly come to terms with it. Back then I didn't want him to grow up because I'd miss that. Now I love this and don't want him to grow up because I'll miss it. I know this cycle will never end and I'm already dreading when he's no longer a little boy.

Kids are a huge game changer on your feels for damn sure. On top of what Opie and others have already said I find myself with an overwhelming compassion for children in general . For example , locally we had a 7yo girl shot and killed while in the car with her mother... story is completely fkd and her mom is a racist piece of $hit but you can read more about it here if you want to:

This story fuked me up as well. It’s all over the local news, and I go to Houston quite frequently for events and baseball season. How easily this could’ve been my two year old makes me legit want to vomit.

I'm also team can't watch anything where a kid gets hurt or mistreated. I have to scroll really fast past it if someone posts it somewhere.

We have Frozen on repeat as well. Also Ben-10, Miraculous, and Paw Patrol, when it comes to TV shows.
