With all due respect - people like you shouldn't be giving folks here marriage advice. Good luck.
I decided against going into counseling but my goal was to work with eating disorder clients, not marriage. I wanted to give back and have a career where I could help others.

I went back to the corporate world, though. It takes too long and too much $$ to be a therapist.

Between this and "counseling is too expensive" you prove my point for me.

Why bitter, jaded, affair and/or divorce suffering folks think their particular marriage experience is normative is beyond me.

Oh, and plenty of execs have happy marriages. The rest is:

no, and not only will you never forget what happened but YOU will be more likely to cheat in the future as well, further compounding the problems

said above in an earlier comment it's actually a great way to end a relationship clean. you'll move on eventually and look back and be proud of yourself for getting out. there will be no questioning your decision. that's big when it comes to breaking up.

and still would never full "take back"; more co-live and deal with necessary co-parenting issues.

i do not understand ppl who do this. i feel like the relationship would be completely different after u take the cheater back. why deal with all that when u can just cut ties and move on and not live life wondering if he/she is doing it again. its more peace of mind than anything else

A lot of the time in 2022, women cheat exclusively to end relationships. Finished using up the host (husband / BF / fiancé) so they resort to cheating.

I've noticed a lot more women lately getting into relationships for expediency; getting into a relationship for the sake of being in a relationship, I guess. She starts dating and having sex with some guy she has little interest in (you can see it on her face) because to her it's better than being single. She stays with him until a guy shereally wants to date comes along. That's when you get monkey branching.

So yeah she gets into a relationship under false pretenses and cheats to get out of it. Modern dating...

I did once, but it just wasn't the same anymore, I couldn't connect with her the same. She didn't cheat on me exactly, just told me she was too young to get married and wanted to see someone else and it broke me because everything was great up until then. She comes back but I just didn't feel the same. She has the ability to hurt me like that, I can't attach to someone who can hurt me.

I’d consider it in the case of my children’s mom. I wouldn’t do it but I’d consider it.

Nope. I wouldn't even consider it under any circumstances. Best case scenario, she gets to live.

I never said you claimed that. The first line addressed you, the rest was more my general comment. Some of which applies to you.

The "Plenty of execs have happy marriages" is aimed at the "lol@marriage" cope crew. Especially those who assume that their marriage disaster is indicative of the rest.

It's a terrible coping mechanism - one which I must swiftly put down.

It’s a common Misc response so I echoed on on the “just lol @ marriage”. There are some successful marriages out there, yes.

Just almost every long marriage (20+ years) has had some sort of catastrophe such as an affair or alcoholism. Some survive and some don’t.
