L4-L5 and L5-S1 disc herniations.

Annulus fibrosis pathology due to extrusion of the nucleus pulposus which impinges upon a nerve potentially causing pain and loss of function.

I dunno dude talk to your doctor

Figure it out. Everyone has back pain

No its not RIP

but you need to take your recovery seriously or it will never fix

start with MCGILL 3

no front/over toes stretching or anything of that ****, you need to stretch the other way so cobras

weighted bird dogs really helped mine get back to normal

then once your feel better lots of CORE training

stay away from RDL/DL and spine shearing **** for now, you need to go the opposite way for it to heal

hope this works it worked for me

cheers

No. Doctor gave me meloxicam a few months ago. Didn’t do anything

This guy knows what's up. Cobras are what I do from my physical therapy sessions. What tweak to cobra stretch that my PT had me was:

While doing a cobra stretch, start with your left leg and bend it so it flares out and place your left ankle over the back of the right knee on your outstretched right leg. If this doesn't give you relief, then do this with your right leg.

This was like a miracle stretch for me. When I have extreme pain, I literally can't do anything, but when it begins to heal, I make sure to do these throughout the day.

Never ever do forward stretches. Your sciatic nerve runs along the back/side of your spine. Forward bending opens up the back of the vertebrae while compressing the front of the vertebrae easily allowing a slipped disc to bulge backwards into the sciatic.

Forward bending is the devil.

Cliffs on bad backs.

-everyone has some degree of “bulging disks”
-depends on your level of pain
- many “bad back pain” are mental and related to drug addiction or depression.
-back surgery rarely works and should only be considered as an absolute last resort.

If you arent severe pain and its not debilitating, Id focus on core strengthening exercises and deloading the discs so the disc material retracts back in. Look up exercise that do that, they help.
Bumping this thread because there is a shocking amount of actual good advice in this thread.

I 100% echo what Dabbmw2002 is saying - if you aren't in severe pain and you aren't physically limited / your lifestyle isn't impacted - STAY AWAY FROM SURGERY - do PT and core strengthening exercise.

Background: I had a bad wreck when I was 19, 3 herniated discs, 2 in the thorasic and 1 in lumbar. Luckily the 2 thorasic resolved themselves after a couple of years and a good amount of PT....which I'm thankful for because the pain from those suckers was a terrible burning type of pain, luckily went away. However the Lumbar injury (L5-S1) never resolved, I tried PT, core strengthening, pilatis, cortisone injections, nerve blocks, facet joint injections, etc etc. Eventually went with a spinal fusion to stabilize that sucker, and honestly, not real difference....except the recovery was pretty rough, so ultimately not worth it in my case. However my life *is* pretty strongly impacted, I can not sleep flat in a bed, always have to have my legs elevated, I actually prefer to sleep in a lazy-boy reclining style chair, I'm SUPER stiff every single morning (not my morning wood) and I immediately jump into a hot shower to warm things ups which helps, long car / plane rides are brutal, can't be on my feet too long without taking a break to sit down for 20-30 mins....chit is super painful.

This is actually *why* I so religiously hit the gym and stay in shape, as soon as I don't keep my core strength up the pain gets worse, fitness and core strength is super important....doing exercise also somehow helps, as long as everything is warm and I'm being active I'm good to go, but as soon as things cool down and tighten up it's brutal.

So good luck brah, wish you the best, I'd do everything in your power and exhaust all options before even considering surgery......back pain and back issues are kind of a mystery and a pandoras box.
