I let myself go over lockdown and got 25lbs heavier than I am now.

Then recently I spent two months turning up my workouts and focusing on my diet to make weight for a BJJ tournament.

Gonna try and get really lean (scales says I'm 18% bf) and drop down one more weight class.

chipotle is the GOAT for cutting, eating it every day for dinner and it takes away all my cravings

Tracking a spreadsheet to hold me accountable. Sometimes I have a legit craving for unhealthy food or some drinks, but I think about how it'd make it more red. Once there's more green I'll feel ok with a slip up or 2 possibly.

^ Glad to see many people here are still taking their lifting seriously. I like the tracksheet posted above, very neat. You should see mine. It's basically a stack of notebooks with all of my lifting sessions (exercise, weight, reps, etc) that spans over a decade. I can go through them and look at when I was my strongest, what time of year, etc. I wrote myself little notes throughout like "weaker today, getting over cold" or "had trouble sleeping yesterday, a bit weaker today." So much data to work with.

Gonna get a good push session in a bit. Nothing like training early morning in your cold dungeon gym when the sun has barely risen. Cold as a gold digger's heart out there today as well.

I'm in the 14-15% range currently.

Yeah same, that's a good point. I personally think it's important to regularly step out of your comfort zone and to challenge yourself to constantly be moving forward in life. It's a bit of an extreme analogy, but if a shark swims, it dies. There's always room for growth.

We'll be cutting at the same time then. I'll think of you when I'm hungry, hung daddy
I thought I saw you did get to 10%? You posted some pretty lean pics. At least that 10-12 range.

My avi is maybe slightly leaner than I am now. 12-14 range.

Maybe it was 10-12%. I tend to lose objectivity when cutting. Sometimes, when I look back at photos, I'm surprised I got that lean. I think it was more realistically around 12% unless my perception has been so warped over time.

Without having it formally tested, its all a guess. Plus we're hyper aware of our fat deposits.

Better to overestimate than under imo.

Yeah I tend to overestimate. It doesn't really matter overall in the end. I was pretty pleased (finally) with what I achieved last year. I want to push it even further this year and use my eyes as my guide.

I'm too lazy to do a Google search but I always thought cutting was something wrestlers or fighters or bodybuilders would do before an event. Basically cutting water weight and putting it right back on after. I've done that myself for photo shoots. So, I would have thought what most of you are describing as 'dieting'.

In any regard OP, I am with you on losing fat in the month of January. Started when the new year began. I'm eating at maintenance or just above for 6 days and then going 32 hours straight with no food. This way I don't have to deny myself 24/7 and just have one day to suffer. Losing a little more than a half of one pound per week. 3 pounds a month is my goal so that when Spring Break starts I replace my six pack with an eight pack.

Disagree with me, fine; but before calling me a fraudster click: https://forum.obnoxiousbrutes.com/showthread.php?t=185252663
