You keep acting like it's just dumb old freeburn saying this, but it was a major talking point when the device launched, and not a good talking point either.

You are really having a true blind fanboy moment right now. You can try to deny it but you also just reposted a month+ old post just to bring this thread back by adding a 30 second portal commercial like the ai Fkn drone that you are.
Again, it's not a major issue, it's not an issue at all, you haven't explained how it is. If it had a browser I'd still connect through my phone because it's quicker and easier.

You repeated something stupid and are doubling down rather than admitting it was stupid when you gave it more thought (or maybe you can't think?). A real CoalJay moment, hate to see it.

You are confusing an issue that doesn't effect YOU with it not being an issue that can effect everyone else who purchases one.

Again you think I'm stupid but it's something that was spoken about negatively in nearly every real review of the product.

I don't need to explain how it's an issue, this isn't new, it was reviewed by many people long ago and people did not like that a portable device didn't have a browser able to connect to a wifi that would require you to log in and connect, like a hotel.

I think you are right in a sense that many people can simply tether their phone, but those of us who can do that aren't everyone. There's a huge demographic of people who for them, that's not a simple solution.

I know you think you are so smart but clearly you are just ignoring something many people thought was a significant design flaw, Simply because it's something you can work around easily. But that's just you, and you aren't everyone, and you clearly cannot review a Sony product without an insane bias. This thread proves that without a doubt, because you can't recognize how that is an issue for someone who isn't in your position.

I don't know how else I can make it clear for you, you will just deny deny deny until you are blue in the face. It's very clear you will never admit it's a design flaw simply because it isn't something that effects you personally.

Now, if you can, instead of thinking about only yourself, think about how it may effect people from lesser developed countries, who don't have the option to just open their phone and produce unlimited internet for gaming. Do you think it's a total non issue for them?

Fanboys are always trying to gloss over things that could easily be an issue for most people, and sonycels are the worst fanboys around. Clearly the Portal has always been a very flawed at best concept.

Love my Portal but I've been using my Steam Deck OLED when travelling.
Both for above mentioned issues (sure tethering is cool, but you never know how good the cell coverage is in your room), but also because it has Chiaki to play my PS5 remotely (on hotel wifi), or just to be able to use my Steam or Xbox-library.

Would be cool if a future firmware upgrade would allow me to play cloud streaming (eg. PS Premium-streaming) instead of just being able to mirror my PS5. Not sure if that's actually in scope tho.

Imagine that, someone who bought a product but can still admit it has some fundamental flaws, even if they do enjoy it

Yeah most people with actual braincells would realize the steam deck is infinitely better value even at nearly 4x the price.

Mgftp proving why he's the biggest moron in this sub once again. You can still be a Sony fan and admit a flaw. It's called being a mature person but I understand that's difficult for some people.

I can stream PS games off my phone, tablet etc. PS portal was supposed to be a dedicated gaming device I can use if I don't have a phone or don't wanna waste phone battery. If you're telling me there are situations I still need it tethered to my phone or it becomes a useless paperweight then obviously that's a design flaw of the device. It is allowed to be a good device while having flaws btw, no product is a perfect 10.

Portal should have had a browser or at least be able to connect to cell networks so I can use a Sim. If you can't admit that you're either a retard or a shill. Most likely both.

Again, I think the vast majority of people traveling have a cell phone with them. It's not an issue that doesn't effect me, it doesn't effect most people.

Why not use hotel WiFi? Even when I have UW access I will still use hotel wi-fi due to hotspot throttling. Although as I am typing this I see you are not in the US, so probably not an issue for you. Either way, due to throttling or poor cell signal, why not just use the wifi?

It doesn't need to affect MOST people to be an issue gooby. It affected enough people that it was a complaint in many reviews. It's a valid complaint and a valid flaw. I'm a Sonycel and I can admit that, why can't you?

As predicted you will just deny til your blue in the face. Imagine not being able to just admit it's a flaw when everyone who's an unbiased tech reviewer had an opinion on it.

Your only defense is that it doesn't bother you personally so it must not bother anyone else, idk how to even address this type of retardation.

Watchout ur comments bro, mgftp is the self-proclaimed "highest IQ poster" in this sub. He's truly made it a better place, with great knowledge and insight on Sony games and products.

I think his knowledge base would be better shared on a forum where people want to know how to take so much cock it would make Jenna Jameson red in the face.

The pseudo intellectual twink with a napoleon complex doesn't fit in here and it's obvious that he's disliked, for good reasons.

Bruh, welcome to sonycel shills, where all flaws must be dismissed because how dare you criticize a Sony product. It must be sold as perfect, flawless, the best thing since sliced bread, or you're clearly a hateful fanboy or something.

Somehow it doesn't surprise me how he's an angry coping manlet, it actually makes his entire personality make sense.

I'd be down with a more expensive version that runs games on device even. But the cheaper version is obviously hitting a large segment of the market, easy to see why it exists. Honestly seems as if 90% of folks are using in their house while on the toilet or their wives or kids cuck them on TV use.
i dont really have a big problem with it cause of the price but if it was $3 or $400 then thats a big problem

Yea, $200 is nothing. Honestly when I bought it I didn't think it would work well enough when traveling (which is the only use I saw for it) and figured I'd just be wasting $200, but that's fine, and I was pleasantly surprised.

I think the PSP was $200 and that was more than worth it. mine was modded and it was probably my favorite accessary of all time. i had every PS1 and PSP game you can get on it and other cool stuff you can do. this portal is a just a fancy gadget really. id like one but i wont buy one anytime soon.

So whats the deal with these Backbones or whatever these phone devices that are flooding the market. cant you do basically the same thing as portal these?

Yes, if you are poor and the $200 for the Portal is a stretch any of the cheaper devices that connect to a phone also use the PS Remote Play system. I mean if you have never tried it just download the Remote Play app, can use on screen controls to test it out.
