I hear it's nice though…..not the prison, the country.

I'm with you man.

The wife and I always (after a few drinks) talk about saying eff it all, moving out to our land and just kicking back.
One day perhaps, what are your thoughts on manifestation/affirmations?

My wife makes about $77k working 4 days/week.
Mirin realistic, yet respectable income. Unlike half the misc that makes double that on an off year.

My sister is real big into that stuff…..im not against it, I believe what consumes your thoughts can be made reality and you need to know what you want to be able to achieve it….but I'm not 100% on board with how far some people go….making boards, staring in the mirror and repeating things to yourself, meditating about x or thinking that if I just believe it will eventually happen.

BUT

I do have to point out that you're 38. That's exactly the age someone who joined the military at age 18 hits 20 years and gets full retirement. You can be a literal medically defined 70 IQ retard and make it in the military. You're nowhere near retired so there are literal retards doing better than you financially. Let that sink in.
Again…success if not strictly defined by financial status.

I know dudes in this exact situation and are retired or about to retire and are completely lost……sitting at home collecting a check, Rotting.

I also know dudes who are now in their 50's, fully retired from high military positions collecting 7-8k/month AND working back on base as a civilian making 150-180k/year on top of retirement……good for them.

Everybody's situation is different and everybody's definition of success is different. I don't compare myself to anyone and I don't look at anyone else with jealousy or envy. What kind of life would that be….why would I want to do that to myself…..why would I want to live everyday with those unnecessary emotions about things I cant change that would only serve as a negative in my life? What a chit way to live.

Hell it took me to that age to finally find a good job. I was making damn good money and 100% insurance doing something I loved. The job randomly closed down. Had it not I’d be over 100 grand in savings. Been applying for decent jobs and not even getting an email back

Up at 0545, let the dog out, pee, drink 6-8oz water, start coffee for my wife.
Wife is up about 6, she starts getting ready. We chat a bit.
I try to read for 30 minutes
Start waking up my daughter (1 year old) about 0645
Hang out with her/get her ready for the day
wife and daughter leave about 0710
I head up to the office to start my day about 0715

It's not easy, especially when you've done well for yourself and you're just trying to live your life and your family (mainly parents) are still operating/making decisions like they always have….just feeling like they are trying to pull you back down. It was tough to manage for 4-5 years (when it was at it's worst) but I basically tried to manage them as best I could while keeping my distance.

From 18-28 I pretty much stayed as far away from them as possible….literally moved to the other side of the country, because I knew they would never visit….and just really found myself and created my life. When I moved back they were in a really rough spot and that required a lot of my attention/money to keep them from being homeless. Luckily my wife was supportive (and that made a huge difference) and we got through it.

Loooooooongggg story short, my dad passed away and my mother has taken control of her life and is doing great now.

I know I left out a lot details, just trying not to get into the weeds and go off about my parents. They were horrible with money, my dad was horrible about managing his health issue which is eventually what took him, my mom was living in a delusional state, popping pain pills to deal with life and was literally not taking care of anything.

Good job making it out. That's amazing.

Your goal now is to raise some kids and put them in a better position

Yes, because working a fulfilling job and having a career you're proud of negates success.

Why such a negative outlook? That's no way to live brother.

What he is saying is that someone with a "job" does not have the ultimate freedom which typically is a high priority for those that are successful since time is more important than money.
