Watched the first series as a kid, so was happy to see a good remake. Poor old gardener in this episode. Such was life for a tradie back then. Anna Sawai is pretty hot - says she's born in New Zealand so not sure where her heritage is from. Hiroyuki Sanada is great as always.

I was reading that many viewers are looking to watch older shows anymore. Hollywood has gone full in with DEI with its writers. The new shows are not being watched as a result. Shogun is based upon a book written in the 1970s.

So far it's the best thing I've seen on TV since early seasons game of thrones.

It's genuinely really good and not just "well at least it's not woke" which is about the best thing you could hope for over the last few years.

I am a sucker for Japanese culture, but the acting, cinematography and direction are absoloute first class, Blackthorne is a funny ****er as well. It's shaping up as a miniseries I'll rewatch a lot in years to come as long as they stick the second half.

I'm HOPING that we are just starting to see the culture shift slightly and they are slowly giving up on the woke push, the lack of political pandering at the Oscars in an election year where Donald Trump is the current betting favourite was another positive sign of this. It was almost weird how they weren't banging on about it all night.

Marvel also cancelling 3 films and ****ting themselves about recent box office is a positive.

It's also just far more convenient.

There's very few whites in it. Obviously the main protagonist, but you sort of are just watching the story of ancient Japan unfold before his eyes. He has almost no impact on what's going on around him.
