I’m going to go ahead and settle the score for you all. I’ll be starting it in 2 days so you’ll all know if it’s good/buy, meh/price drop, or bad/pass. Freeburn said it’s the user reviews that matter. And I can’t think of a better user than I.

What is the combat like? Is it as difficult as Elden Ring or is more chill like Star Wars?

I still have to finish Lies of P and have Lords Of the Fallen and Shadow of the Erdtree on my backlog. But if the combat isn't as frustrating I could get around it.

Also refuse to read any "critic" reviews, they've completely lost my interest in 2024.

I briefly read one of the reviews, don't wanna be too spoiled. From what I've read it's closer to a Soulslike, but like 90% of the combat allegedly feels too easy, however there's boss encounters that drastically up the difficulty so it's like you'll be faced with a few difficulty scaling walls that you might've been used to in Souslike games. Probably less annoying mobs / mini-bosses though. IDK about the upgrade system, if there's fast travel, if there's puzzles and hidden chit to explore/do.

Ghost of Tsushima: 83 - Game of the Year contender, incredible game
Starfield: 83 - Absolute flop, couldn't be worse.
Wukong: 82 - Amazing game, just slightly bugged and suffers from performance issues.
Halo: Infinite: 87 - absolute slop, this effectively kills the Halo franchise. They should have never launched this game.
Stray: 83 - 3 hour long cat "platformer" with automated platforming – GAME OF THE YEAR NOMINEEE
Lies of P: 80 - "best souls adjacent since Bloodborne"

You can chalk it up to "expectations" if you want but the REAL issue with game scores is that there is very little consistency between score and quality (apparently) and evidently anything under 10 is trash, but also at the same time it's not. Games media and Games Twitter have bastardized thr point of game reviews beyond comprehension.

I think it's safe to say any games from 82-86ish are probably really solid games with a couple of glaring issues. But we can't take these scores objectively anymore because of "expectations" or some other nonsense. It just doesn't make sense anymore.
You might as well add Alien:Isolation here. It has 79 on Metacritic and that infamous IGN review of a retard who sucked at the game so he gave it a 5.9.

It is always the first game I can think of where critics didn't give the credit it deserved. The game turned out to be maybe the best survival horror ever.

Looked at the opening scene/fight online and was INSTANTLY hooked.

Chit looked fuking amazing, truly next gen and even the story got me intrigued. Gameplay looks more like GOW Ragnarok than Elden Ring.

I'm playing another game now, so don't wanna switch plus I'm thinking I could try to hold till the PS5 pro is out but I'm seriously tempted.

I don't think people hated on Starfield for the rating. I think it was moreso "How did this game get that high of a score?".

Impressed by it. End of act 3. But I read the ps5 version has a 4th. The difficulty kicks up a lot as you progress.

Hardest final boss I ever had to face.

Fkn brootal, pressing every single button hurt me emotionally. I remember you and I had a big back and forth on this, good times.

Ghost of Tsushima is such an amazing game. Are there things that can improve? Of course, it's a new IP from a small team of talented devs.
They fkn nailed the important parts though.

@Deathstroke why are you still on PS4 brah, the new version with expansion is amazing. I want a next playthrough so bad but I'm holding out on everything till the PS5 Pro.
