Just don't be an irresponsible retard. I remember my parents always telling me never to get a credit card and how they're a scam.

Same, my parents would always lecture me to not get a credit card until I realized that they were just saying this because they managed to get themselves into some credit card debt when I was a little kid. I didn't wind up getting a credit card until I was like 25 because of that, when I really could have just been doing the same thing that I am doing now for all that time: Buying only what I need with the card, building credit, and racking up cash back.

4 chase cards, 3 citi cards, 2 discover cards, 2 amex cards, 2 capital one cards, one from us bank, one from barclays, one from citizens. one or two more i forget which.

i only really use one discover, one amex and one citi card. they offer decent bonuses and the former two are my oldest accounts. have to keep them alive

AMEX Platinum would be sweet, but that $700 anal fee sucks.

Yeah seriously considering it. I figured either that or one of those choice cash back Citi cards where you pick a category.

The only thing I'm worried about with the Amex is if they douche around with what falls under certain categories. I.e. if my fav grocery store doesn't fall under "supermarkets" for some lame reason. Some cards are like that.

I know one of the categories is "online retail" so there's plenty of opportunity to get hosed on that

I have too many. Keep most of them in the drawer, and dont want to cancel due to 7+ years of flawless payment history.

I keep 3 in my wallet, which is probably still too many.

Main is my costco Citi Visa

The other two are
Citi Doublecash MC (2% rewards)
Discover IT (1% rewards)

All three FICO scores "kissing" 820.

Yeah that is why I don't really go for cards that can screw you on the charge codes. Ain't nobody got time for that.

I was never really impressed with any of the Amex cards. First off we're pretty frugal so they'd be useless to us especially given the annual fees, but even if we were big spenders I really don't see anything impressive about the reward categories for the platinum or gold.

It's also pretty lulzy that the "mogger" platinum card includes a monthly credit for a Walmart Plus subscription

Platinum isn't amex's mogger card. The concierge can be nice depending on your lifestyle, but then the higher amex cards have a better concierge too.

It's not, but a lot of people consider it to be a mogger card even though any Joe Schmo can get approved for it

Amex is a glorified coupon book, there's nothing luxurious about it lol. Having to douche around with every category/deal to make sure you get enough out of it to justify the $700/year fee… just not worth it. It's all for bragging purposes because people think they're mogging others by having an entry-level Amex card, even though everybody who is actually rich knows they are credit cards for posers

The way I view it… Amex brokies can't afford to have $100k in a BofA account so they have to settle for the next best thing

Amex gold. I spend the most on dining and groceries, so it works well for me. Don't travel enough to justify a platinum card. Then I have an Amex Blue Cash with $30k limit that I never use for the heck of it. Then a Capital One Venture card for the 0% foreign transaction fees just in case I'm out of the country and they don't take amex.

BofA preferred rewards > Amex (only need $100k in BofA accounts to qualify for platinum plus honors)

5.25% back on online purchases, gas, travel, dining
3.5% back at grocery stores
2.63% back on all other purchases

You see the card on the right, you know that person is a real mogger
Just absolutely LOL @ keeping $100k in a BofA account just to get an additional 1% back (with a cap) over an Amex card.

Brb will continue to use Amex and keep that $100k invested and come out way ahead of you lmfao

stocks return the same whether you hold them in Merrill Edge vs. any other brokerage (its not like the $100k has to be cash in an actual checking account lol)

BofA always returns more cash back than Amex, though

$10,000 cash back because I have 4 of the customized cash cards brah, and the black card is unlimited cash back. The black card is more aesthetic and more of a mogger card than the entry-level Amex cards too

I'll make a simple bargain with the Amex brahs ITT:

If you have an Amex Black Card , you can be considered a mogger

If you have an entry-level Amex card (Platinum, or even worse the GOLD which is peasant-status), then the BofA Black Card mogs the Amex card in addition to receiving better cash back rewards. You cannot be considered a mogger if you have the Amex Platinum Coupon Book

Agreed, that BofA card does look like it mogs the Platinum.

Amex Black card is mogger status, but that's all it is, a status symbol. The card itself absolutely blows.

I used to have an AMEX even more exclusive than the Black card. You snooty rich people can't even get this card.

This is the Optima card and the very strict conditions for which you can get this card is a secret that you'll never be able to figure out.

It's called a centurion and you have one for the customer service, not for status or perks. The general customer service is much higher, but you also have a personal concierge, in the same way as you have a personal banker, and they will go above and beyond.

Good luck getting value out of this overrated/over hyped card. Amex gold though seems like a solid card. Probably get one after I get my sapphire preferred.

In case you need to get a decent rate loan or mortgage. I try to avoid debt at all costs, only debt I have is a mortgage and a car loan. Plus the cash back from using cards helps out.

Being able to get a Loan for a car or house as well as getting free **** for spending money on things you'd normally buy everyday.

I have a ton. Mostly chase cards both business and personal since I use those points to transfer to Hyatt. A few cards for the benefits like the Hilton aspire and Amex platinum. A few hotel cards for hotel spend. I travel a bunch so it makes sense. I’ve recently taken advantage of some big signup bonuses.

LOL that people that don’t use credit cards. Just don’t be an irresponsible idiot and pay them off every month.
