and would you similarly consider giving Brock the title before Benoit a mistake?
(I would btw)

I think Benoit might get the title (he's on HHH free Smackdown remember)
and your already wrong tho Sol.Kane had the belt for 22 or 23 hours back in 99 or 98 or sometime or other

Secondly, I think Benoit will get the belt..come on man, are you telling me that the man doesn't deserve that belt at least one time in his career?? He is one of the best in the world. The WWE will give in soon because they will realise he deserves the belt..hell, i think they realised this a long time ago BUT because of this they might just stick the title on him at any given time (Kinda like the belt is in Benoit's bank..he's just waiting to cash it) even if he doesn't have so much momentum. Like i've said earlier in the thread, they need to stick it on Guererro first..the man is off-the-hook popular at the moment and why not? He has it all!! (and you tools who think he's too short for championship material can all shut the **** up)
One of the most mark-out smackdowns for me recently is when they left all the small guys in the last 4 in the rumble for the number 1 contendership. Cena, Benoit, Guerrero and Shelton…Now these are current/future stars! Not toolbag workers like A-Train, Big Show or Bradshaw

OK does anyone realize that Benoit HAS been world champion before? He defeated Sid Vicious at the 2000 WCW Souled Out pay per view. The only reason the title was taken off of him is because of his jump to the WWF. Had he stayed the belt would have remained on his waist.

What are yours and Dan101's theories as to why short people shouldn't be champs?

if you are of average size and you get to meet some wwe stars and the champ is one
and you are lookign down at him, I promise he lost some credability in your eyes (if you are the average fan)
so the bigger someone is the better
no one meets the Undertaker and says to themself 'man, he's way too little to be the champ'
I think Eddie is short for the WWE to but Eddie has more Talent and Charisma then Benoit has Talent and Charisma
(Benoit may just eek out Eddie on Talent but combining Talent and Charisma Eddie OWNS him)
so Eddie can make up for his somewhat lacking size whereas Benoit really dosn't
but like I said, given an involved storyline Benoit may pick up enough crowd reaction to garner a title run
it wouldn't BOTHER me if he was champ (I'd damn sure like to see Brock tap the title away to him) but it's not something I'm going to hope happens either

Kane Fan is correct in that Benoit is too short. And as long as Vince continue to jerk off to the big men of the industry then the days of a 6 footer as champ are over. BUT you can never say never, not when it is the WWE.

This makes no sense. I made a comparison to a "real" sport like boxing where Mike Tyson stands 5'11" and weighed in at 220lbs at his peak, and I asked a question that neither Kane Fan nor Dan 101 has yet to provide a sensible reply. the question was : Did the average fan think (including people over six feet tall who would look down at Mike) they could beat Iron Mike? so Kane Fan, if you were taller than MIke are you telling me he would have lost credibility in your eyes? and if you say yes, then you certainly would prove that reality and perception are certainly separate and distinct. Oh, in the event that you say well, unlike boxing, wrestling traditionally had BIG guys as champs, I have a response. most boxing world champs were also large in excess of 6'1''. Notable exceptions being Mike and Joe frazier. now doesn't Benoit remind you of Joe Frazier with his tenacity and toughness?

I say 220 is still pretty heavy to the average person. Maybe not to those of us in the iron game, but still…

and Eddie may
but if you compare Eddie to Brock talent wise
and Crowd interest wise
and then the time it takes Eddie to get a main title run (if ever) compared to Brocks
you will likely want to cry…

see Tyson's believablity as champion is not the issue

also in boxing there are weight classes
why?
cus no one would believe a flyweight would ko a heavyweight

Oh, in the event that you say well, unlike boxing, wrestling traditionally had BIG guys as champs, I have a response. most boxing world champs were also large in excess of 6'1''. Notable exceptions being Mike and Joe frazier. now doesn't Benoit remind you of Joe Frazier with his tenacity and toughness?

KaneFan you dumbass Benoit is heavier than Tyson. Tyson also fights guys that are 6'6" Tyson does have an aura about him because people shell out millions to watch him on PPV even though he hasn't had a good fight in years! Your such a fool sometimes. If anything in the WWE 220=240 when they advertise you. Holyfield weighs 218 and fights guys that are 30-50 lbs heavier than him and wins. I also find it highly credible that Eddie or Benoit can win the heavyweight title because they are strong enough to throw guys like Lesner around. Small people can't wrestle for 15 min and still have the strength to german suplex Lesner 3 times in a row.
yo mama so…

similarly he dosn't have to have an aura about him because boxing is (at times at least) an actual competition where you win based off of ability not crowd reaction
I didn't bother answering your question cus I thought it was so ****ty as to be laughable
see Tyson's believablity as champion is not the issue
whereas Benoit (or other smallish wrestler) does have that problem
also in boxing there are weight classes
why?
cus no one would believe a flyweight would ko a heavyweight
(and he wouldn't)
so really your example was so pisspoor as to not need to be countered but I have doneso as per your request

Kane Fan i am not gonna trade barbs with you. That's not really my style. Your argument however was centred on the size of the individual wrestler and losing credibility if he's smaller than the average fan. it didn't speak to "aura". to paraphrase, You claimed that "smallness" reduced credibility yet my argument was that never for a second would you or most people you know would think you could beat Mike even at Mike's "small size". i based my arguments around your very words sir.

As for the size argument it's not so much about size to most people as much as it is about aura. A wrestler needs to have the aura about them that they can kick your ass if you saw them on the street. Benoit definately has that aura about him. Unfortunately what he has in aura and in mat ability he is lacking in charisma. Doesn't matter how good you are on the mat, most american fans have been bred to believe that the guy with the collest catch phrase or the most totally awesomest shirt is the better worker and thus more worthy of a heavyweight title.
