Our receiving core isn't nearly as bad as so many people make it out to be.

yes, yes it is. Cam can cover it up to an extent but when smitty is locked down by sherman or revis do you really trust lafell and dixon with the game on the line.

The thing is, so many people always forget to factor in Olsen when talking about the receivers. Olsen is a huge part of the passing game, he is the true #2 receiver. And yes, I trust Lafell. Guy has made a ton of clutch 3rd down catches, and even some 4th down catches. He almost single handedly won us the game against the Vikings two years ago. It was 4th and 24 or something like that, Lafell runs a little hook route, grabs the pass and turns it up field for like a 40 something yard gain. Then the kicker missed the game winning field goal.

Lafell isn't a bad receiver. He's exactly what he's supposed to be, a #2 guy, you shouldn't be expecting everyone to be #1 caliber. Everyone has a role. He is underrated by his own fanbase. I do agree they need to start looking to replace Smith, but he already said he still has 3 to 4 years left in him and can still play at a high level. So again, it's not as bad as you're making it out. I also think Gettis is going to have a big year and turn some heads.

Smith, Olsen, Lafell, Gettis, Hixon, Ginn, Edwards

That isn't a bad receiving core at all. Don't forget they're also going to be using Barner, Tolbert and Williams in a lot of screen plays. Plenty of weapons around Cam. It gets annoying when people say he doesn't have weapons. The only real weakness on the offense right now is the right side of the offensive line. Everything else is fine IMO.

excited for this season
expecting big things. Our D looked solid towards the end of last year and has had a sick preseason
between the D and Cam making things happen , leeehhgooo playoffs

Hopefully this will be a HUGE come back year for Gettis. I think people forget how much potential he had before the injuries

Final cuts:

CB Drayton Florence
QB Jimmy Clausen
DT Sione Fua
WR Brenton Bersin
WR James Shaw
TE Zach Pianalto
OL Hayworth Hicks
LB Doug Hogue
S Robert Lester
LB Ben Jacobs
RB Tauren Poole

Bolded notables. Clausen was a no brainer, should've been done a while ago.

So the 2011 draft,
Cam Newton
Terrell McClain
Sione Fua
Brandon Hogan
Kealoha Pilares
Lawrence Wilson
Zachary Williams
Lee Ziemba

All except Cam are no longer in Carolina. Wow, lol.

I'm pretty excited about the Mikell signing. He's a top 5-10 safety. Defense just got even better.

I highly doubt a top 5-10 safety would still be available. So long as Nakamura isn't playing I'm good.

I think that has more to do with the fact that this will be his 11th year. Rams let him go because of money issues combined with younger talent at the position. But he's definitely a top 5-10 guy even at his age. The best safety we've had since Minter.

I think week one could be a nice surprise for us. I feel like we match up well against the Seahawks for as good as they are. IMO the difference maker will be if they can shut down our secondary receiving options such as Olsen, whoever's playing the slot, and RBs out of the backfield. We should be able to shut Wilson down if Hardy and Johnson can keep contain and keep him in the pocket, and I feel like Luke and the boys can definitely handle Lynch. Maybe I'm too optimistic but I cannot wait till Sunday!

They can. They have the best secondary in the league and their front 7 is no joke. It is definitely going to be a tough match-up but I agree we could surprise them.

I think our defense can keep this a game and I'm confident Cam is gonna have a huge year.

you have the front 4 and the LB to shut down the run, but do you have the speed to contain Rustles at the same time without overcommitting? Tough matchup.

We'll be underdogs no doubt but I think the Panthers are going to be one of those teams this year that doesn't compete for a playoff spot (though we'll be close) but we're going to be a serious thorn in the side of those who are competing and probably play a major factor in a few teams seasons. Do I count on us beating the Hawks? Nah. But can we? Oh yeah.

I was skeptical of why he was sitting around not on a team but hes been in probowl in past. Our front 7 looks beastly and i agree that while we may not make the play offs its going to be hell for the teams that were facing.

I ****ing hate Deangelo Williams

ever seen I picked him up in fantasy one year. He's the god damn worst.
trade that fuking scrub for a washing machine already
He had ONE good year and everyone gargles his fuking cock

Ever since like 2011 , when I buy Madden the first thing I do is change his name to DeAngelo Cocksuckers and cut him

I was impressed even though we lost. Cam was calm and poised, dwill ran great even though he made a crucial fumble. Olsen looks to be a monster if he holds on to the ball. Our pass rush and run stop was insane. All we needed was a turnover and we could have won.

Penalties killed us. That late fumble killed us.

It was another game that we should have won, but didn't. Not sure what it's going to take to get this team over the hump but today proved what we already know; this team can play with anybody.

Feels bad losing that but there were a lot of good things. For me the pass rush and Cam were outstanding. And Beastmode wasn't ****, today.

The DL was incredible. Cam was really good. Really can't believe Williams fumbled on that last drive.
