One thing I saw that looks to be MAJOR trouble going forward is Josh Thomas. He's a great run stopper but is way below average in coverage ability. He was burned twice in a row on nearly identical plays. Luckily the receiver dropped it the first time, but the second was the game winning touchdown.

Other than that I was impressed with the team as a whole. The special teams penalties were a joke IMO. The defense played out of their minds. The offense needs to put more points on the board. Plain and simple. We had plenty of 2nd & 1's, then 3rd & 1's, and were still unable to pick up a single YARD. That play call needs to be a QB sneak or hand-off to Tolbert EVERY time. Not sure of the status of our lineman that went down, but the group was giving Cam a lot of time back there. He was throwing accurate bullets all over the field too. Only had one over throw to LaFell down the field, and two major drops by Olsen. He's come a long way.

Looking forward to the rest of the season and hopefully breaking this close game curse.

Imo, the coaching was great. Bad penalties on 3 different special teams occasions, dropped passes by Olsen and the fumble by D-Will lost us the game. Really happy with Cam, the defense as a whole, o-line play, and coaches. Just trying to see the positives from a tough loss, but I really do think there were a lot of positives to take from this game. It's not like we lost to Oakland or someone like that.

@RealSkipBayless 2h

Congrats to Seattle. I had Carolina in upset. Led for 3 qs. RWilson outplayed Cam, who failed to take advantage of big opportunity.

^**** like this will grind my gears until next Sunday. How the **** did Cam fail to take advantage when his RB fumbled the game away?

This. Missing a wide open receiver, Cam fumbling himself, or throwing an INT are literally the only ways he could fail to take advantage. He did none of these. Missed I think 1 throw all game. Also, Wilson got sacked for 2 huge losses and lost a fumble.

Exactly. Last season you could easily make that point and no one would argue it. Cam threw the ball into the dirt when we could have won the game. He choked it away.

This game? BS. Cam didn't fail to take advantage of anything. And I would even almost go as far as saying they played evenly if anything. Wilson was running around throwing up prayers nearly all game.

On a positive note, both Tampa and Atl lost today as well. My two least favorite teams. I just can't hate the Saints as much as them, because we have completely dominated them since we've come into existence.

Our secondary was troubling we gave up alot of yards, granted we completely annihilated the run. We def. need a WR2 to step up and make some plays. Smitty and Olsen are straight up beast mode but we need a 3rd option in the passing game. If olsen could have held on to those balls, if we didnt screw up that punt coverage and give them the ball back the outcome could have easily been different.

Tampa loss was epic. Retard lineback hitting a qb out of bounds with 5 seconds left to PUT them close enough for a fieldgoal. lmao cant wait til we play them

19-17 is dominating?

I think that our secondary will be our biggest weakness all season. Fortunately we have a pass rush that will hide it at times.

And Cam did what he was supposed to do today for the most part. He made the throws when he was given the opportunities. Let's not pretend that our secondary is anything close to what Seattles is (the best in football) so comparing their performances today in a vacuum is a bit misguided imo. Cam did enough to win, he just didn't get help when he needed it most. It's easy to overlook the sacks, the fumble, and the big time grounding mistake that Wilson had are easier to overlook when the team bails him out in the end.

Don't forget Frank Alexander going full potato after Godfrey got the huge sack on Wilson. Seattle went on to kick a field goal on that drive.

Alright

Hard fought games on both sides. Seattle is a very good team(obviously, one of the trendy super bowl picks) and we held strong. Hearing lots of bs chatter about their defense being riddled with injuries but no mention of our offensive line being injured as well.. it was their backups vs. ours.

Some points I'd like to hit on..

- DWill looked as fresh running the ball as I've seen him in a while. He was finding holes, getting away from tackles in the open field, looked as fast as ever… obviously that fumble was probably (IMO definitely) the reason we lost this game, but that isn't something you'll see DWill do often. I'm stoked on our run game considering he was running behind a patchwork offensive line & we'll still be getting Stewart back midseason.
- OL performed well given two backups were starting(Wharton was one, who has been out of football for over a year). Kalil lookin joocy.
- Smitty still got it
- Almost as big as DWill's fumble were Greg Olsen's drops. He dropped two sure first downs, one of which was when we were approaching their territory and we could have scored(yeah coulda shoulda woulda, still) and carried a bigger lead than 7. With a weak receiving corps we desperately need Greg Olsen to be dependable and he was not today. Hope that changes.
- Cam also looked as good as I've seen him(inb4 but only 7 pts!). Accurate, calm as fuk, patient, smart..
- Rivera I am impressed. Play calling was fantastic. Didn't try to get fancy, played to our strengths, made good decisions(lots of folks saying he shouldn't have challenged that catch but I'd bet every coach in the NFL would've challenged that). You all know how I feel about Rivera.. he legit impressed me. You can't blame him for the secondary players not being able to hang with their guys..
- DAT FRONT SEVEN. Do I need to say more? I will anyways. Star is legit. LB's were flying around the ball at all times. Jimmie Russler, who is among the best in the game at moving around in/out of the pocket and avoiding pressure, was constantly running for his life. Beastmode was, for the most part, completely shut down.. and they have a pretty damn good OL, too. It didn't matter; our d-line was fuking going nuts up until they started running out of gas in the final couple drives. It's amazing what a legit interior threat can do for the defense as a whole.
- Secondary is wack and our pass rush bailed their scrub-asses out. Not stoked about having to face Brees & Ryan twice this year.

Overall I thought it was a good, well fought game. I'm confident if Rivera calls games like he did today we're gonna win a decent amount of games. Whether it's enough to propel us ahead of NO/ATL, not sure about that.. but we're gonna be a good team. Just unfortunate we play in such a good division.

Nah, Charles Johnson forced the turnover. But it didn't help with field position.

I will say that Ryan and Brees are not scrambling anywhere near as effectively as Wilson.

I believe the Johnson sack happened before the Godfrey sack. Can't remember though. Either way, Alexander went potato.

Cj caused a fumble after that bone headed play, correct me if I'm wrong. But Alexander should get cut after that nonetheless.

I wouldn't cut him, he's a good rotational player, but definitely deserves an ass chewing which I'm sure he got.

Considering how he looked afterwards, I'd keep him. Not because I feel bad for him, but because he knows how badly he phucked up and won't want to do that again.

He's a backup DL anyways.

A loss is always disappointing but we went hard against one of the NFC's best and lost the game ourselves. I wanted to put a hole in the wall when Alexander ruined an amazing play because while Johnson did bail him out I think that we would've gotten the ball back with 1:15-1:30 left and I bet Rivera would've tried to put some points on the board before half. D-Will's fumble did pretty much cost us the game but he played with passion and was running like he did half a decade ago which really excites me. The front 7 looked amazing and if Star plays how did every week he's setting himself up for DROY. Stay strong PantherNation, Smitty was on point after the game saying that we will see Seattle again!

Has an NFL player ever been cut for something like what Alexander did to begin with?

I'm just glad I'm not the only one who took away a lot of positives from the loss.

I will say I've grown tired of looking for upsides with losses. Who do we play next week? My phone is on that ****gy 20 minute load time so I can't check. IIRC it's the bucs, yes? If we lose that game I'm going to be incredibly disappointed.
