90% of the misc don't want to have kids.

what else do you do when nothing's working anymore and you have no family? we are social beings and need interaction with other people

id imagine most of those people there are in the same group.

A place like this is supposed to have staff. Also by the looks of it , its probably a government funded place so these people probably didn't have any kids or their kids didn't make it

I agree. My grandmother was at home until the very end when she was moved into a nursing center for her final month. Honestly I would never want that burden on my children and would much rather them put me in a good nursing facility and come visit me when they can.

I'm not saying that it is acceptable to just put your old parents somewhere and forget about them and I would absolutely not do that to my mother and father, but me personally, I would never want to put such a heavy burden on my children.

Damn they give zero fcks
But in all seriousness. At least some of you FAs will take residence in a nursing home when you're old. That's just how it goes

Hell alot of non-FAs will as well. When you start going crazy I assume either your family decides to hire a full time caregiver(if they choose to pay the cost) or they throw you in a nursing home :/

I never want my family or myself to ever be in those **** holes. I've had friends who really pushed for their parents to live in those places. It blows my mind how kids would want **** like that for their parents.

Grandfather couldn't walk, had strokes all the time, diabetes, and other issues..Lived with my abusive Aunt for sometime until she couldn't take it anymore, he ended up going to the Senior Home..nowhere else for him to go, no one could possibly take care of him within the family.

Now my grandmother who lives with same aunt pisses in her bed and couch every day, she doesn't know how to take her meds and has dementia and psychosis. No one is there to take care of her because her family works all the time and she needs constant care....she's by herself 90% of the time so she's on her way to the nursing home as well..it's the only way she'll survive.

Sometimes chit just happens and there's not much you can do about it.

Same background as you, putting an elderly family member in a nursing home or leaving them isolated just isn't an option.

LMAO. People ITT who have no idea how/why people end up in care facilities. Obviously grandma being underwater in flood times is not acceptable, but you have no background to why they are there..

Brb, old and don't have kids
Brb, old and abused thier kids/estranged from family
Brb, too medically complex for family to take care of
Brb,chose to be in the care facilitythemselves

So quick to judge...

word

you never see asian parents in old folks homes. When you are away from family, stuck in some home with strangers, you decline fast and it's just a matter of time.

Those with family, love, real homes and young people to take care of them - live much longer.
