Denver is too liberal for OP. However, he could work in the tech center and commute there from a less liberal city to the south (e.g., Castle Rock). However, you're not going to escape the increasingly insane housing prices along the I-25 corridor. They're not as bad as the SF bay area, but the salaries in CO are not the same either.

Opie also said he's looking to avoid the cold/snow. You can't do that in CO. The "winter" lasts a long time there, although it's mostly sunny days in the 40's/50's when it's not snowing or an arctic cold front hasn't blown in for the week. In my time there, I'd seen it snow at my home as early as late August and as late as early June. It's rare, but it happens. Politics is always one of the major factors, even if you don't realize it. If you're talking about low property taxes and safe schools and all sorts of things like that, they are all directly downstream of who your neighbors elect. You want to find a nice place to raise your kids? Check the election results from the past several elections.

Ye Denver is out, I visited the area for a week and it was way too dry for my liking (probably the altitude). Not really into skiiing and snowsports either.

I'd consider myself moderate politically, which in today's climate is conservative. I'm slightly older than you, sounds like we're in similar situations.

I live between the Coast Range and the Cascades..The mild west side of the state.

Summers are hot in July/August but without the stifling East Coast humidity.
Rarely rains from July through September.
September and October have AWESOME weather.
Also hardly any mosquitoes.

Winters are mild..rain and rarely heavy snow.
When it does snow it usually melts with in a day or two..

I live about an hour+ from Mt. Hood, The Columbia River Gorge and the coast.
Perfect for day trips.

Glad to have you in the US bro. Look into SLC. It's a little left leaning, but the rest of the state seems to be good. Tech is booming right now but if you get your foot in the door early then you have a great opportunity. Most places shut down at midnight though.

My brother in law lives in Dallas and he's very high up with Dell. He's been telling me the tech industry is fairly established but there's just far too many people there IMO. Housing market is nowhere near as bad as SLC/Denver.

I’ve never been to Oregon, gonna try hard to visit all these places and drive around. Keep the suggestions coming, will add to list.

I will admit a slight preference towards the east, becuase it’s closer to family. The humidity factor concerns me somewhat, I keep hearing about it.

It’s like you either gotta deal with snow in winter or humidity in summer?

CA coast really does have good weather.

No mention of AZ yet? Yeah it's extremely hot 3 months out of the year, but you get 9 months of beautiful weather. The state leans conservative (at least for now), relatively affordable cost of living, very low congestion in terms of traffic compared to other cities, and there is absolutely zero shortage of young attractive women. In fact, out of the places I've been in the US, I'd say AZ is definitely top 5 in the last department. Scottsdale and Tempe are ultimate hubs for hbbs.

Give it a thought OP.
