Cheers for the video - will watch when not at work.

Summary of some points in the vid:
Many modern action heros are practically invincible, psychologically and/or physically. They are always portrayed as being on top of situations, never out thought or out fought by other people. No vulnerability = no relateability.(90s actions stars either had to be saved by someone else at point, or won by the skin of their teeth. They were also portrayed as having personal problems of some kind. Last Boy Scout is one of my favourite actions films. If you anyone reading hasn't seen it... The heroes both have had high flying careers that crashed and burned, and are considered 'losers', but they both are showed to care about people. And at one point they are saved by a teenage girl - in a non-SJW way.)
Shaky cam/close up camerawork, obscuring the fight scenes. (Though I loved the Dark Knight Series, I thought the fight scenes were terrible, because the camera work was only showing 1/3 of their upper body, and switching angles so frequently. In contrast to John Wick camera work.)
Unrelateable villains. The best action movie villains give their reasoning behind their actions, or at least their motivations are understandable. Even if sociopathic, we can still understand that they have human thought processes, and they aren't just human props. (That's a reason why I think Thanos is one of the best movie of all time, even though what he wants is morally reprehensible, he genuine believes what he is doing is for the greater good - and the writers don't try to make us think that he isn't sincere.)

I am lucky to find a 2 movies I want to watch a month
That's more than I watch, and I don't consider myself bored of movies at all. The average movie costs $100million+ to get to screens, so you're consuming $200million worth of movies in a good month. That seems like a decent number

Yes op seems like 2007-2015 there was tons of creative new ideas out there and lots of good films being produced, now we're lucky to get a few per year.

There are maybe 5-6 watchable movies per year now. Hollywood wants to make maximum money with minimum risk. That means infinite remakes, political correctness, comic book movies, et al. PG13 movies with built in audiences that won't rock the boat. You would do the same thing.
Premium TV has gotten much better over the years, though. It's much more competitive now and people demand better content.

Hollywood has woven propaganda into it's movies, since it's inception.
(IMO the progression went like this...)
Initially it was the 'American Dream'/rags to riches/pro-cultural capitalism stories.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18I1yY83R9M
Then it was conservative sexual morality (ie. outright state banning of nudity, sex scenes, or 'immoral messages' in movies. And even censoring themes in comics).
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290854/
Then after the censorship was lifted, it was progressive politics and postmodernist type themes (eg. the rise of anti-heros, exploring subcultures deemed immoral by conservative society, relativism, etc).
Nowadays, it's mainly liberal leaning propaganda. But like I've said.... It has always had political propaganda, whether right wing or left wing.

Movies are absolute garbage these days. I can immediately tell from all of the previews that they’re SJW propaganda.
I’m pretty sure the last movie I went to see had 4 straight trailers in a row that were about women empowerment. Like blatantly.
Every movie out there now would make you think that whites and males were a minority in society. According to Hollywood, 1/4 of the people out there in American society are LGBT, and every politician, head surgeon, etc is black.
In addition, the only other movies that come out are stupid superhero movies. Are there really that many adults out there like comic book movies? I really hope not.
The last good movie I have seen that came out recently was crazy rich Asians. And it’s not like it was anything amazing, it would’ve been average just 10 years ago, but now anything normal that comes out feels like it’s a savior to the film industry and gives that slight bit of hope.
The only tv shows I watch are south park(which makes fun of all this bull****), and homeland. Jack Ryan was decent also, but still was overly left leaning.
The only other good movie I’ve seen in theatres in the last 2 years was 36 hours. Also, If you have an indie theatre near you, free solo is incredible. But it’s a documentary.

Very few new movies are worth watching anyway. Most of the good writers are doing tv or podcasting.

I watch movies to check out from reality and escape from all the BS, but now Hollywood feels the need to inject their political dogma into just about everything. Fuk that noise. I'll stick to hiking and trolling kids on Red Dead.

Constant propoganda and agenda pushing has put me off tv, movies, video games, sport pretty much everything.
I can't help but notice the smallest tidbits in entertainment these days that it completely ruins the immersion for me.
