I don't play but its massive with a lot of my family members. Grandfather was an excellent player & my uncle is also. I've met 1 of the worlds top pros multiple times as he is related to me through marriage. Just not something I've ever put too much thought into, but I might try pick it up when the weather breaks.

Absolutely amazing the "pass" golf gets in society. Imagine being a successful, high power executive of a public company and choosing where your home is, or where you're vacationing this year, because it's close to an air hockey game hall or whatever.

I've tried many times to like golf but it is just boring af walking around the truman show manicured hellscape with a load of old people everywhere. I'm not sure wtf is wrong with people under 40 who play golf, it is the ultimate LDAR just above bowls. There is nothing satisfying about smashing a tiny little ball down a lawn.
It's far from a LDAR sport, you actually sweat and walk miles especially if you play 18 holes. Swinging takes physical effort and technique especially if you're trying to smash the ball with your driver when teeing off. It's great exercise.

Yes.

Imagine for example someone being into outdoorsy activities and moving to a location that has mountains and forests.

Try and imagine a person that loves skiing moving to a location where there's snow year round, or a person who loves shopping moving to a place close to prime shopping.

Crazy right?

If I didn't know any better I'd say it's almost as if people's hobbies and lifestyles play into where they decide to live.
