Skin collagen is a big problem, especially for women who have had babies. I know one exercise instructor who has abs but she's getting into her 60s so her skin isn't as taut and they don't look like they did 10 years ago. Still, its impressive at her age. She does exercise 4-5 hours a day, though, and eats fast food.

A little below 15% IMO because you're always just a couple weeks and a few little dietary tweaks from getting shredded.

Edit: Agree with above comment, around 15% bf (accurate not imagined) is a reasonably balanced target for late 30's+.
False AF. You can experience metabolic slowdown in as little as 8 weeks with a rigid calories deficit. And it can take over a year to recover if you diet even longer than that. There was a study done showing obese people losing weight down to a 2000ish cal diet reset their new resting/basal metabolic rate to that 2000 level. And even after a year had not gone back up to over that.

The body will do whatever it can to survive. That’s why it’s critically important to lose it slowly.

Yeah, I'd say this is right. When you're like 18% it takes months to get back into good shape. But 15% you can do a 2-3 week diet and cardio and recomp to normal.

This is so stupid and confusing. You have the motivation and consistency to eat 2000 calories daily, but biology doesn't let you lose the weight.

I think I'm gonna bump myself up to 2300. Tdee is 3150, cutting at 2140 is considered extreme weight loss

Yes, I have visible abs. It's actually much easier to be lean with abs than grow big natty muscle after 30.

I went with IF to drop a ton of fat and it worked pretty quickly. I'm probably going to put a few more lbs back on now.

I went down to 175 @ 6'2" was a little too lean. I'm at 183 now and I think that is a better place to be.

We may be defining "metabolism" differently. I do agree it's best to lose weight in a slow and controlled fashion. Here's what I was talking about, in terms of metabolism vs age:

Still workout 6 days a week but the whole watching my diet thing isn’t for me anymore. Also have a few beers/cocktails every single day. Walk around lean though, and like someone else said I roll out of bed with abs but they’re gone once I eat. Essentially sit in a place where I’m a month of watching macros away from being super cut again. At this age staying in that state isn’t worth the sacrifice

Run sprints 2-3x/week

Weights/calisthenics 2-3x/week

Limit alcoholic drinks to like ~10 max/week

Stop eating fast food by age 35 that chit is for kids and fat people anyway.

?????

I gotta get cut up for a beach vacation I have in like 6 months.... the problem I foresee is that i'll be a beach bloatlord due to all inclusive/copious eating/ drinking after the first day there. Will be be perma bloat.

The goal is to be there by 35 then all you have to do is maintain. Much easier than yo-yo’ing from lardass to gigachad.

Yeah but I feel like most people's main issue is life-style/diet more then anything else.

I know a lot of people (males and females) that were super lean/athletic in HS with six packs and all that jazz. Post college between work, kids, etc. they don't even exercise 1/4 of what they did when they were younger. Diet is crap. Stressed out all the time. Etc.

Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!

The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.

They had the technology to rebuild me. They made me better, stronger, faster......
