I like my Venum gloves. A lot of people go to custom Mexican or whatevers when their first pair wears out.

Also good on you, boxing or any contact sport builds character, not to mention it will put you in top shape if you take it srly.
Just lmao, a female miscer has the balls to step into a boxing gym, before terry, the state of the world.

Professional fighters will train with Winning gloves to protect their hands, and then when the fight comes around they will wear Grant gloves (custom molded to their hand), or Cleto Reyes (these hurt your opponent/sparring partner and also lots of pain for your hands). Some pros will actually use Winning gloves in their pro fights if they have been having problems with their hands recently. Floyd Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez have fought pro fights with Winning gloves from time to time (they always train with Winning gloves and headgear).
Anyways, when I bought my Winning gloves it was about 5 years ago and they were $275. Now they are $425!
You're new and still learning what you want from a glove and don't know how to wrap your hands yet for your specific needs, so I'd avoid making a big buy right now.
I've been geeking out on Boxing gloves lately cause I'm still looking for my second pair to go alongside my Winnings. I recommend looking at RDX, Rival and Hayabusas. Look up their Return Policies and see how easy it is to make a no-hassle return. Buy straight from their website, and do not use Amazon because I don't trust sellers on there for expensive buys.
Typically men buy 16oz gloves for sparring and training. But for girls, and depending on your actual weight/size, you may want the next step down. I would talk to some girls that train in the gym, and see what size they use and if they like it. Basically you want enough padding to protect your hands and block punches, but smaller gloves mean it'll hit your sparring partner harder. Its good to train with slightly heavy gloves though, and in a real fight your hands will fly faster. So basically your choice is 14oz or 16oz depending on your size.
MAKE SURE to get Velcro Strap gloves. Do NOT get the gloves with the shoelaces that you have to get someone else to tie every time you wanna put them on. The Velcros are almost just as good, and the shoelace tied gloves are really better for pros who have someone putting their gloves on for them.
But bottom line is this, I'd make sure to use a 30 day trial for two different gloves and just enjoy using them for that time being and seeing what you like. Read the fine print, I think most companies say you can return them within 30 days as long as they are not used and have their tags on. So just keep the tags on and throw some punches without breaking a sweat and you should be fine. But mainly, I'd also be asking other people in your gym to try on their gloves before the workout start and ask if you can hit the bag a little with em, ask em what they like and don't like. Winning is the best but ultra expensive. I see RDX ($40) and Rival ($85-$250) a lot in different gyms as well.
Also, just watch some youtube videos on handwrapping and see how you can custom wrap for your own preference on wrist protection or knuckle protection, and securing the thumb, etc. You'd probably want to know how you like your hands wrapped before you start testing and judging which gloves are best for you.

I’m 117lbs, but I think everyone at my gym uses 16oz. Unfortunately, there’s only 2 girls at my gym that spar, only one was ready to fight in an amateur. The rest only do bag work. But maybe I’ll ask the guys the next time I see them!
I have a way I wrap my hands consistently. But maybe I’ll take a look at alternatives on YouTube

It’s a Japanese brand, and as a beginner you have no reason to even look at it honestly.
I’ve only been boxing 9 weeks, and this week I got to spar, but I bought my own gloves and pads on week 2 because of how much I enjoyed boxing and how it clicked with me.
I bought Venum Giant 3.0 gloves in 16oz size, and Rival Boxing RPM11 for my mitts. For wraps I just use Sanabul 180 wraps. I don’t have boxing shoes, but I use Flux zero drop shoes for almost everything and they work fine for boxing (for me).
I suggest this video for hand wrapping technique. His whole channel is great boxing advice for the most part, even if he has some click bait stuff for the views.
Have fun sparring, and make sure to let your training partner know if they’re throwing too hard or you’re not comfortable. You already said you don’t want to pursue amateur boxing, so there’s no need to get into hard sparring since you also said you’d like to maintain this long term.

I ended up going with the hayabusa gloves! It’s good enough for starting I think, like you and others have mentioned!

A good fit is important because you can be more detailed oriented and have less injuries(but don't want it too tight either). Ever ordered food and it looks messy? It's because the worker who put it together used huge food gloves that don't fit lol.
Really the shoes and gloves don't matter that much as cardio and being able to work on your skills.

I ended up ordering off Amazon since I could just return… I went with these.
Was weak for the marvel venom design. Such a bad reason to influence my purchase choice lol

My gloves are "winning" brand. Expensive tho. But all my other MMA gear is the premium Hyabusa stuff. And I'm sure their gloves are great too.

Meh your gloves are fuk all, just get pretty ones that fit perfect, dont compromise on the fit. I like leones because theyre cheap but still feel quality
For shoes again, fuk all. Box hogs are just fine & like any other boxing shoe.
Get the pretty ones srs
Elterrible is trolling
I got 3 leones 2 pair of venums & a expensive ass pair of Cleto's & grants because i had to see whats up.
Literally barely any difference in any of them, except for fit & padding.
Favourite is the 90bucks plain whites at 14oz. Just for the fit, they just eat my hand.

The brand is really fuk all

Perhaps you need to go to a real boxing gym.
Don't feel bad it takes time or at least years ago it did to even know where to look to find one.
If you go to a gym that doesn't even have gloves and head gear. I'm guessing there isn't even a ring..
If you are just trying to work out your good but if you are serious I'd suggest looking else where
.as far as brands go. Ringside and Reyes are the best but you don't need the best with what you are doing. At least they were the best when i was on the gym

Far better to invest in your own gear if you are planning to attend regularly
Not a boxer, but I have been doing full contact martial arts for 27 years on and off. In fact I have my own company dedicated developing Judo and yoga gear
Having said this in my experience Venum and Hayabusa are good brands

Kyokushin crew

Literally barely any difference in any of them, except for fit & padding.
Favourite is the 90bucks plain whites at 14oz. Just for the fit, they just eat my hand.

The brand is really fuk all
Venom.

It was disgusting. Why would you want to use gear that has other peoples sweat and aids on
Gross
Far better to invest in your own gear if you are planning to attend regularly
Not a boxer, but I have been doing full contact martial arts for 27 years on and off. In fact I have my own company dedicated developing Judo and yoga gear
Having said this in my experience Venum and Hayabusa are good brands

Mirin and respect that many years of dedication to your passion/sport. Did you compete at all?
Also thanks for the reassurance with hayabusa being a solid brand. I did get them and I do like them!

But a girl I do pad work with who used to fight reminded me I should really buy my own helmet too. I almost forgot about that. Coach recommended greenhill. Anyone familiar with greenhill?
Also pictures of gloves! Yay! I used them just for offence today (while the guys practiced their defence) until I can get my medical done and get registered with the boxing association here. They felt nice. I’ll keep them. Venom veeeeenom venom venommmm venom

Makes me dream though to become good enough one day to deserve equipment like that
I’m 117lbs, but I think everyone at my gym uses 16oz.
Oh definitely. Don’t know if get into an amateur fight but for my first sparring session I’ll see if I can record it!
I’m not a real boxer, terry/mike. :’(
I’ll check out that YouTube video when I get home! Congrats on sparing and I’m happy to hear you’re enjoying boxing so much—what are your goals as a new boxer and where do you see yourself taking this?!
I ended up going with the hayabusa gloves! It’s good enough for starting I think, like you and others have mentioned!
That’s very true! I’ve been doing conditioning classes and have started running just for cardio too. That was one area I knew for sure I had to work on. I also take time to do some foot drills too any time I train on my own
I ended up ordering off Amazon since I could just return… I went with these.

Was weak for the marvel venom design. Such a bad reason to influence my purchase choice lol
Thank you. Yes, that’s exactly why I love boxing so far. Character. Building your mental and physical character. That strive to push yourself to be better. My girlfriend from boxing always says… it takes a certain person to do boxing. You get it.
All of you guys are on spread for me
