I'm old enough to remember Subway before the $5 footlong deal when they actually put a generous amount of fixings on the sandwich

My local Subway got shutdown. Feels bad mang. Replaced with some kind of cake/cookie/muffin maker business.
$5 foot long was the chit. Now they're $10-12 for a regular foot long. Crazy.
The only thing that has persisted for the $5 range over the years… is grocery store (Publix, Costco, etc.) Deli Rotisserie Chicken. This is where you should get your fill if you don't want to cook IMO. Otherwise… everything is overpriced in general (even McDonalds and Taco Bell with their mobile deals).
If you don't mind cooking though… here's my latest concoction.
4 large eggs ($0.936 | 320 Calories)
2 nonfat cheese slices ($0.2475 | 60 Calories)
3 Gwaltney Chicken 40% fat free hotdogs ($0.74625 | 360 Calories)
Seasonings + Garlic Butter ($0.50 | 100 Calories)
Tiny bit of skim milk, never measure it so IDK.
= 840 Calories for less than $2.50. And 60g Protein btw.
