I hate that the Pats get a bye before we play them but none the less we need to split these next two games to have a shot at postseason play.

But it feels good to be in control of our own destiny this late into the season. Unreal.

yeah next two games are really going to be unkind to us.

despite the tough as hell schedule we are coming out pretty good. but 9ers, pats, 2 saints games left is tough. Puts pressure to beat the fins, bucs, falcons, and someone I forget. No room for slip ups.

Looking so good on defense. If we come out of the stretch against 49'ers, Pats and Saint(x2) at at least 2-2, I think we are in the playoffs.

Detroit has an easier schedule, but they still have some games that they should lose. If we end up 11-5, we still might not make it. Bull**** that we are obviously better then the Cowboys, but the NFC East is garbage. We should have taken care of business against the Bills.

And to think, before the season many of us (myself fully included) that the secondary was going to get absolutely destroyed week in and week out.

man i really hope we beat the forty whiners, Carolina is still getting dismissed by all the "pro analysts" and beating the team every one has a raging boner about would just be so sweet….also, so pumped for the monday night game vs new england. this is where Carolina can prove they are a playoff caliber team.

ps nice fricking draw having to play the NFC West and AFC East…why cant we get nfc east and afc south

Kind of balances out with us getting the Bucs and Falcons 4 times. Although getting the Jags would be sweet.

yeah my dad is big bears fan…….10-6 last year…no playoffs.

No way. Its going to depend on how things go and how the team plays, but I could see him at 10-6 and even possibly 9-7 keeping the job. But lets say they're 10-6 and tied for the WC but lose a tiebreaker, the defense is top 5, and Cam continues playing like a boss…you really want to fire that?

But its just going to depend on how things go.

I hope we're fired up for this game.. we're facing a healthier, focused 49ers team that is essentially a mirror image of our team but they're a bit better(in the secondary, OL specifically). I think we stand a good chance because of this and I think our front 7 can wreak havoc on Kaep. The thing this game comes down to will be Cam's turnovers vs. Kaep's. Teams like SF don't piss away opportunities off turnovers.

Thanks fellas, I will check those out. Reading Easterbrook and Barnwell have completely changed the way I watch football. Now when a teams punts from anywhere around the 50, I count the number of plays it takes the other team to pass the spot where the ball would have been had the punting team just gone for it. Especially when the punt sails into the end zone for touchback.

Easterbrook in particular was chronicling a high school that never (or rarely) punted / kick field goals. And they were a very good team that did not lose often. And yeah, I understand high school and the NFL aren't even close to the same thing.

I used to really like Easterbrook years ago, but his writing style and repetition got to me. I still skim through his stuff and he's been at the front of some major initiatives (going for it, head injuries, sound defensive tactics) but his biases can get bad. So I just skip them. His tangents on financial/economic issues are great though (since he's an economist).
