so true.

For me its random. Somedays I can rep 145 like its 115lbs, and some days I have to use leg drive for 135.

I believe it builds all around better strength and I want to work on my core (correct me if I'm wrong in assuming it's the better option to achieve these two)

I do both but I'd say I focus more on standing OHP

i dont even use leg drive...annoys me when I see people doing it, basically feels counterproductive. I just dig my feet in the ground to stabilise myself but don't use them to get any momentum

same, but when I struggle with a weight that I know that I can push I get frustrated and just use leg drive.

I weigh about 149 lbs. and I do 135 lbs for 4 sets of 5. Never tried to press my body weight but I probably could for maybe one or two reps

But of course I won't know until I try. Also I'm considered pretty light around here so I'm sure some of you guys aren't impressed

Again, i'm sure there are some guys here who actually can. But the amount of multi rep responses here is baffling.

I do have the 20+ years of lifting experience, BUT I actually didn't start doing STANDING OHP until about 9 months ago. Always did it seated (which is obviously easier to do bigger weight totals). I did progress from a max of about 200 pounds in Standing OHP to 245-250 within that 9 months though. So it is possible to progress quickly if you already have a solid base of lifting under your belt.

Once with absolute chit form...also had a thought: would doing a hand stand in which you lower your body weight til your head touches the ground + back up equal the same force required for one OHP? physics brahs plz chime in

Zero. I'd love to learn how to do it with strict form & build it from there, but for now it's just very light weight for me.

No, for a couple reasons. First, a true OHP starts below the chin and in front of you. No way to replicate this with a handstand. Second, you lose power through every joint involved with the lift. Thats why you can do more on seated OHP than standing. Every joint in your body is involved with standing OHP, whereas it's only wrists, elbows and shoulders with a handstand.
PRs:
Squat: 630 (sleeves)
Deadlift: 735 (straps)
Strict OHP: 330
Log Clean & Press: 360
Gave stickyashell hope and now he's back in strength sports crew
