never worth buying whats essentially the 'first' version of a new phone, always bound to be issues.

To my knowledge, the facial recognition was essentially a "make do" solution, whilst they're still trying to figure out how to get the entire screen to act as a fingerprint scanner...and a screen at the same time, which apparantly hasn't been achieved yet. But yeah the whole facial recognition concept seems flawed

and the headphone jack? thats been the case since the 7?
Wouldnt really class that as an issue

agreed with most of your points OP

i tried the X for a week and returned that sh*t with the quickness.

faceID "works" but its a) not as fast and b) it failed like 1/5x i used it.

its a true gimmicky upgrade. i did love the camera though.

i went to a pixel xl 2 which has a slighty better camera and touchID so i guess you could say that the faceID was a dealbreaker for me.

Had a look at it the other day.

Have to admit, the white version is the best of the bunch. However:

- Looks like a Samsung Galaxy S8
- The area at the top looks potato
- The metal trim surrounding the phone looks like tin (LOL, was much better finish with the iPhone6 material)
- Is too small
- Home button needs to make a come back hard

It's also super expensive man. Unbelievably so.

just bought a huawei honor 6x for $150 and thing works perfect..u mad brah?

i will say ive been rocking a 5s which ive been using for 2 years and its been a beast... still runs as smooth as the day i bought it..got it for $150 a in 2015 unlocked

You're joking right? You know your phone has full length bezels top and bottom and that the "notch" in iPhone X is giving you extra screen over the bezels, right?

Pretty much this. I switched to iPhone from life’s long Android and I went the 8 Plus route. Same CPU/GPU and rear cameras, great battery life and I like that 16:9 over the stupid new 2:1 that Samsung started this year.

Only thing I miss is the headphone jack especially since I came from the V20 with built in 32 bit DAC. Everything else though I like much better.

Went to best buy to test one out and didnt see what could possibly make it worth the $1000. Screen wasnt even that much better than my Galaxy S7. Might just buy a used iphone 7+ and roll with that for as long as I can

The notch contains all of the sensors that make Face ID possible. Since bezels are getting so small these days they have to find someplace to add all of these sensors.

I’ve only seen a few Instagram pics on the new screen and can already tell the OLED screen is better than the one on the iPhone 8. HQ videos are going to look amazing on it

the top and bottom bezels are quite small and the display has no side bezels (unlike the iphone x)

at least i can watch a full screen video without an ugly notch blocking a part of it

The diff in OP's post and most others is his attention to detail and his 4 part explanation as to why... as an Iphone fan. It is a good detailed post.
