I have had that happen and I opened the door because I figured it was one of two things where I live.

1) drugged out hood rat thinking he was at his dealers house and trying to score more

2)person in distress

Turns out it was hood rat. They ran when I answered door with gun in hand.

It’s a dog eat dog world homie, no point in living in fear. Also, if it was someone that needed help I would have felt horrible knowing I was too scared to open the door.

Op is either a decently committed troll or mentally unhinged and in need of copious amounts of therapy.

I'd answer the door. Could be a construction crew that needs to move your car. Don't want a tow company to move it and potentially cause damage to your car or truck. Good luck OP

I mean, it's a common strategy for robbers/home invaders to bang on the door to see if anyone is home before they bust in and/or to get the door open easily so they can gain entry. You definitely shouldn't just whip open the door if you aren't expecting anyone, talk to them through the door first or something.

Now you’re just being stupid. Kill someone? Place to escape?

You were “terrified” but not enough to call 911 or your front office, you left your truck sitting in the same place for days and now you want to kill someone and escape.

had an odd thing like that happen the other day.

I have these slotted windows in the loving room. About 6, 4 inch by 3 feet long window slats. You open them with one knob and they all tilt to open.

pretty cool but obviously someone can simply take the glass out and get into a huge opening.

its been hotter than hell here and I have no ac so I have left them open for a few days.

I have had them in other places and they make a distinctive sound if you go to remove them. So the other night about 1am I could have sworn I heard that sound. Like someone was removing the glass.

had been drinking quite a bit and it was only a few hours into sleep so I was fully disoriented. Got up and I could still here it, This has to be something. So i went to the living room and flicked on the light. Usually you would hear someone skittering away but nothing. I peeked out of the blinds and there was a young girl with a back pack standing right there. She sort of looked like a deer in the headlights. she went a bit left , right and the just looked at me and waved.

wtf? freaked me the hell out. I played on the computer for about 30 minutes and went back to bed. Could still hear mumbling out there the whole time. pretty much scared the **** out of me.

I got home at 11 p.m. I didn't leave my truck parked for days. I'm not obligated to open my door when someone is banging with a hammer fist and screaming in Spanish. I'm sick of people. I want to escape society and get the fuk away from people.

Yeah or you open up and before you can ask wtf you've got a pistol in your face. No reason to open the door if you aren't expecting anyone and they either won't respond to your talking through the door at them or they sound sketch af.

Back when I lived with my parents, we had those slatted windows.

We woke up one morning and our house had been burgled (whilst we were all asleep).

They did exactly what you described - removed the slats.

Get that window replaced ASAP.

I’d get a gun ready and dial 911, but not hit go. Lock my bedroom door and watch from my upstairs window if they leave.

If they actually break in, hit go. Tell the operator someone broke in. And wait in my locked room. If they try to break into my bedroom I’d defend myself. Otherwise just chill until the police arrive.

Edit: I should clarify I would do this if it happened at night. During the day I’d look through the peephole and if it was someone non-threatening, just answer the door.

Anyway fishy or thug looking, would not open the door.
