Things change. Adapt or get left behind. We'd have an equal amount of complainers if artists kept pumping out 2002 era gangsta rap non-stop.
100% agreed. i'm sure that when DMC was getting started in hip hop in the 1980s, the older folks then were complaining about the music industry going down the chitter too.

lol I guarantee run dmc would be rapping about all that dumb **** if he were a new rapper today.

You rap/sing about what is going to get you popular ($). No broke dude wants to be principled forever.

Obviously.

However, its pretty incredible how much clout these major record labels have eh? Not much room for creativity when one or two mass media conglomerates own like 95% of all major record labels. See a potential issue here? Interscope alone has tendrils with like 99% of the artists out now

not sure the decision would be that easy these days although I likely overestimate the morality people hold.

rap from back in the day like when run dmc was around is pretty different than post 2000 rap.

There are rappers who don't, and got popular.

Kanye and Chance aren't gangsta rappers.
You rap/sing about what is going to get you popular ($). No broke dude wants to be principled forever.
That isn't really addressing any of the points he's making, about the promoted values and their destructive influence in African American communities.

Though that addresses the lack of responsibility regarding the artists use of their social influence. You're seem to be saying they have no ethics or integrity, which is pretty much what I've seen many non-blacks online say about Blacks (srs). (I'm Black.)
