Probably because you have always had friends or connections. I have nobody. There is nobody on this earth that i can talk to about anything that i like. I always have to talk about gay pride or hunting with my coworkers. Longest discussion i had was about food srs. I can't hang out with these people.

If you already have friends you can't even compare yourself to FA's. I don't want fake friendships i want real connections with people. But i have to be able to relate to them somehow.

Nietzche predicted that as society becomes Godless, it is probably replaced by socialism which would kill a hundred million people. As we know in hind sight, he was completely correct in this. He was not at all happy about Nihilism's existence as he knew full well its cancerous effects on society and people.

Notice how hardcore Nihilists are so often complete and utter bell ends and a chore to be around. Miss me with that philosophy lol.
Truth isn't pretty. For many of us, we used to be religious, and are no longer into those beliefs for coherent, and logical reasons. It's like taking your blinders off, you really can't go back into that way of thinking after being exposed to the counter arguments. It's true that religion ultimately helps most believers (besides wasted tithing money) and shields them from the harsher realities of the World imo though.

I think therapy is probably the only real way to change for some of us. It's pretty obvious that we can't really just power through alone, and on our own volition after a certain point. Not sure if you already tried therapy, but I honestly think it's worth a go, and you don't have much to lose if you really want to change some major things in your life. Just have to find the right therapist and work from there.

She told me it took her 10 years to get back to the point where she could say she loved herself. She said nobody in the world is gonna love you unless you love yourself. It was really helpful actually. She was a very kind woman srs, she was so nice and warm and just full of joy in spite of everything in her life. Truly inspiring person. My point is that there are people out there who can have meaningful conversations, but it's rare. You just have to keep trying. Actually, I think a lot of people don't want to talk about heavy chit or philosophical chit because it is depressing and sad for them.
Bro i talk about dumb chit at work sometimes so it doesn't have to be all serious but i need an actual connection to hang out with people outside of work. The people at work talk about gay pride and hunting a lot so i feel uncomfortable srs. I literally was talking about real life twisted metal with someone at work once but since i have nothing in common we just speak to each other every now and then. Another dude there likes the same metal i do but i can tell he doesn't like me or something. Tried bringing up metal bands and he just ignored me. At some point you just give up.

For some reason making friends is extremely hard compared to pre 2014. Something has happened or i just have really bad luck. People seem distant to me (i'm kind of the same way tbh)

There have been once religious people who became atheists, who become theists again.

I'm one of them. :-)

I'll bet a lot of FA's here have the same problem. They just don't know how to meet new people and don't understand socializing. To me almost all socializing seems forced/fake.
Your answer has nothing to do with my post. Please answer my question about therapy and why you won't try a new therapist.

FAs need professional help, too. They just won't and whine about it on here all day (except wincel, and he's improving because of it).

Exercise, good diet, good company. In addition to these what most people don't realize is these negative mental conditions have a metaphysical aspect to it, they have been brought on by unconscious constant repetition of negative words and thoughts to oneself. Research into the power of positive affirmations and if you want to go deeper, meditational practices that utilize this concept. The mind has to be retrained to constantly repeat words which have positive associations to rebalance itself. Check outhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japa

I've been to several already. They don't work for me. Last therapist told me i was going to be an alcoholic my whole life and here i am sober almost 5 years. Will never go back.

Still worth a try imho. There are crappy therapists sure, but finding a quality one could be life changing. I just don't see how life will change much for you, with the way things have been going. It's like you're stuck, and I can relate being there too. But after a certain point, it almost feels impossible and out of your control to improve without some kind of intervention or help from someone else. And you don't want to be here in December 2019 feeling the exact same way as another year has seemingly passed without improvement.

So have you ever gotten out of the rut? How did you do it?

What i'm going through is about the same thing as being homeless. And i'm sure some homeless people wonder how one day they became homeless. It just seems like bad luck.

Yeah a lot of it is possibly out of our control. I got lots of health problems and chronic pain. Meds don't seem to help. I've been stuck but I feel like at this point it's going to be impossible to climb out by myself. We have to find a way to move beyond the bad luck and start living, and I think it will taking major thinking pattern changes, and altering my world view in a major way at this point. Still in the rut currently, but again, I don't think things will change for me without getting myself some outside help and therapy. Good luck though brah, there's some good advice in this thread to at least try, and when you're stuck, we don't have much to lose by trying new stuff.

Do you drink? If i could drink i could easily go places and try to be social but i am super high inhibition and awkward without alcohol. That's the only thing i can think that would help me but i don't feel like going to jail or something. Almost had to serve 1.5 years in jail for alcohol srs
