What the heck happens to those lonely people who already were alone before the lockup? Now they don't have anywhere to go to, especially if they were laid off so they don't even have their jobs to go to. Probably applies more to older population.

Even my local Starbucks was always full of lonely people that were just hanging out. Now you can't hang out anywhere. No gyms, no restaurants, nowhere to go.

What if you don't have family or friends or if you're from a different country? I'm sure I would've gone to Finland if I were single.

Probably still better to be alone than with some wife beater.

I think you need therapy. I don't think the guys you're dating will fill the void of your marriage, albeit fleetingly.

You need to figure out how to date someone closer to your own age who you could actually have a real companionship with. And sounds like that requires therapy.

I know a woman who I went to high school with who's 35 and still single.

She says she's waiting "on God to send her the perfect partner, and trust God's timing"

Super conservative too, pro Trump -- but I think she's obviously clingy -- probably borderline crazy and probably has unrealistic standards too.

You're attracted to immaturity though. I'm not. In fact one of the drawbacks for me dating young is the immaturity: snapchat etc. - the stuff you like.

So therapy might help your brain catch up on maturity. Maybe the first step is recognizing maturity =/= no fun.

If I can play armchair psychologist for a min, have you ever considered that maybe that liking only young guys is a defense mechanism? You know that it can't be serious with someone that young and if it isn't serious you can't be hurt again. Maybe you're scared of age appropriate men because you feel like it could develop into a LTR and your scared that you'll get close and something like your marriage could happen to you again

Lifting decreases the chance of getting dementia by 30 percent, so that negates the 30 percent living alone in the 50's and 60s.https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/about-...0%20per%20cent.

Marxism has ruined marriage and the idea of marriage for a lot of people. These young generations don’t realize how miserable they’ll be when they’re old with no children and a spouse that they love.

Fuk feminism for making hoes
Fuk commies for convincing young men that marriage is awful
Fuk boomers for everything else

My armchair psychology is that you never emotionally matured within that marriage.

You engaged the fantasy, for better or worse, and maintained that dynamic with your husband. Likely so you wouldn't need to really face the obvious reality that something was going on, and could maintain that amazing feeling.

In all seriousness, I wonder what sort of therapy you have undergone which (in your own words) has left you still "not over" your previous marriage from 8 years ago. Terrible things happen in this life, and it is a permanent detriment to yourself if you "carry" them with you. Like astainon your ability to be a happy person.

I'm not suggesting that you simply "accept" or "get over it", but I don't believe that therapy has really done right by you if this is your final state.

I also believe humans are bigger slaves to our genes than we recognize. We desire certain roles innately.

Plus I’d be able to tell myself the breakup happened for a good reason because it let me find someone healthier and more compatible with me. Which I fully expected to find by now but I guess that expectation was another Disney fantasy.

People always say this... maybe most people do I guess because they learn from their past one.

I still think it's a lot of luck, with some good decisions and exposure thrown in.

Have you actually "felt" alone, in the way you describe here? You've told us quite a few times that you find it very easy to attract partners, at least for sex. And of those, some want relationships with you - though you have brushed off the guys you feel are too young for a relationship.

So if you clearly attract male attention like that, it's not like you're in an abject lonely state. Rather, you're looking for what you say is a "new companion".

The thing is, your breakup did "happen for a good reason" - you have said yourself that (in hindsight) the marriage was fairly toxic/co-dependent. Aren't you better off without him? I hope, after 8 years, you think so.

I don't actually think you miss "him" anyway - more you miss "having a partner". But the story there doesn't have to be a Disney fantasy, and I think - deep down - you know that. I admit it can be hard - I had "given up" until I stumbled across my (now) wife at a work event. It ain't over 'till it's over, you know.

I found women that are better in some ways, but not in other ways. I don't want to live under a delusion that I'll find someone with all the positive traits and compatibility and none of the bad traits that resulted in our issues.

Life owes us nothing, even though we like to imagine there's some dream/fate fulfillment. Gotta just find someone with enough good traits and get on with it.
