What the heck happens to those lonely people who already were alone before the lockup? Now they don't have anywhere to go to, especially if they were laid off so they don't even have their jobs to go to. Probably applies more to older population.
Even my local Starbucks was always full of lonely people that were just hanging out. Now you can't hang out anywhere. No gyms, no restaurants, nowhere to go.
What if you don't have family or friends or if you're from a different country? I'm sure I would've gone to Finland if I were single.
Probably still better to be alone than with some wife beater.

Yeah I agree with that in theory and I’ve tried dating guys my age but I just don’t like them and am not attracted to them and can’t deal with them.
I think I’m still mentally 23 years old myself because I can talk for hours with a 23 year old and not get bored. But after 5 min talking with a boomer I just want to run away.

You need to figure out how to date someone closer to your own age who you could actually have a real companionship with. And sounds like that requires therapy.

I know a woman who I went to high school with who's 35 and still single.
She says she's waiting "on God to send her the perfect partner, and trust God's timing"
Super conservative too, pro Trump -- but I think she's obviously clingy -- probably borderline crazy and probably has unrealistic standards too.

And like someone else said a lot of older people who are alone were married but they got divorced or their spouse passed away. Marriage doesn’t guarantee anything really.

So therapy might help your brain catch up on maturity. Maybe the first step is recognizing maturity =/= no fun.

Lifting decreases the chance of getting dementia by 30 percent, so that negates the 30 percent living alone in the 50's and 60s.https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/about-...0%20per%20cent.
Pair that with supplementation in general and certain ones like Taurine which could protect against boomer brainhttps://www.lifeextension.com/magazi...s-aging-brains

Marxism has ruined marriage and the idea of marriage for a lot of people. These young generations don’t realize how miserable they’ll be when they’re old with no children and a spouse that they love.

I'm not suggesting that you simply "accept" or "get over it", but I don't believe that therapy has really done right by you if this is your final state.

I've thought about this a lot. Complete freedom is the best option if you don't desire companionship; but limiting that freedom through responsibility is typically better for the human condition.
I also believe humans are bigger slaves to our genes than we recognize. We desire certain roles innately.

I’m not sure how much of it is loneliness but maybe say 75%. That means I would be doing a whole lot better if I had a new companion.
Plus I’d be able to tell myself the breakup happened for a good reason because it let me find someone healthier and more compatible with me. Which I fully expected to find by now but I guess that expectation was another Disney fantasy.

So if you clearly attract male attention like that, it's not like you're in an abject lonely state. Rather, you're looking for what you say is a "new companion".
The thing is, your breakup did "happen for a good reason" - you have said yourself that (in hindsight) the marriage was fairly toxic/co-dependent. Aren't you better off without him? I hope, after 8 years, you think so.
I don't actually think you miss "him" anyway - more you miss "having a partner". But the story there doesn't have to be a Disney fantasy, and I think - deep down - you know that. I admit it can be hard - I had "given up" until I stumbled across my (now) wife at a work event. It ain't over 'till it's over, you know.

Idk but I was 100% assuming that I’d find somebody better for me. And that the “reward” for grieving and working through everything and letting go and finalizing the divorce etc would be that I would find someone better and new happiness. But I guess that is just a platitude that people say like “everything happens for a reason.” And a fantasy plot for books and movies.

Life owes us nothing, even though we like to imagine there's some dream/fate fulfillment. Gotta just find someone with enough good traits and get on with it.
