Stayed up till 5 AM to play it yesterday lol. I just "finished" chapter 2, but going back to finish one side quest I skipped over. NGL I've been on Chapter 2 forever, the final boss was hard for me until I learned that there's a side quest that results in making one of his mechanics a non-issue. I did it, but still have 1 other side quest left open. Therefore, probably just gonna consult with a guide for the quest super quick, and then get back to unguided Chapter 3 playing.

I like that the game is more forgiving than Soulslike games… generally the mobs don't really kill you except in certain moments with elite mobs that you can harvest the spirits of. When you do die you keep everything (item pickups, currency, experience, etc.).

The stories they relay at the end of each chapter are heartfelt and interesting.

I like that you can "over level," I'm like level 42 rn lol, I think most people starting in Chapter 3 are in the lower 30s.

Still on the fence, cheeky monkey and cutscenes look fun

But lack of exploration and minor enemies bothers me, not sure I wanna spend most time on bosses like it's shadow of the colossus

If I'm gonna spend hours on bosses need exploration to decompress and chill awhile

From what I understand the hype for this game in China was really big

There was some company that was trending because they gave all of their employees the day off and a deluxe copy of the game to play

That's cool. I'm glad they did it justice with this game then. I'm not familiar with the lore i think i'll look into it after the game. My first introduction i believe to Wukong was in League of Legends when he was released in 2011

I dislike souls like games. For a game like this, they need to make it simple hack and slash like God of War 3 with a ton of combat variants because its the weakness of hack and slash games.

From these newer games, the trend I've seen is weird performance on PC vs great performance on PS5.

The early review copies were all PC, so you'll have to scour youtube and forums for the PS5 reviews.

I died to him maybe 25-30 times. Then I learned there's a side quest I skipped which makes the final phase easier. Also doing the side quests unlocks some better armor/weapons anyway. Beat him first try after I did the skipped side quests, upgraded my gear, and over leveled a bit.

I can't get behind any of these ultra-hard games at all. I play games to unwind and have fun. I'll challenge myself boxing, lifting, working, dealing with my fuking gf, etc. Why the fuk would I wanna add even more challenge to my life with a fuking video game?

They’re hard but unlike souls er you don’t lose your stats and gear if you die. It’s satisfying hitting and attack them and finally taking one down, I dislike souls a lot but love this. The only thing makes it souls like now imo is the difficulty of the battles. It’s all there are is battles. Don’t you like bosses say In gow or dmc it like that with immensely better visuals. And the monkey king has good lines and dialogue that you can skip.

If you like epic boss fights this game is a collection of them!

I love epic boss fights, but I hate replaying them over and over. I'm also not good at games. I struggled with Ragnarok on Normal. The valkyrie queen and berserker king fuked my chit up. I didn't even feel that accomplished when I bet them either. I felt like I wasted 8-10 hours on the same boss fight like a fuking degenerate POS who could've been wither ding something more productive or playing something fun.

The 9 valkyries were a bitch. I don’t know, replaying the bosses in between a main gaming session of another game . This is working to hold my interest. The game definitely isn’t worth $60-$70 though if you don’t have the patience then. If it drops or ever free you might try it then. I normally don’t have the patience but the trick to black myth is to study them, figure them out and persevere, use a guide if get desperate. But I’m
Honestly in no hurry here. I am platting beating games i between but this is a different experience. I don’t plan to plat it or pay any mine to completions in this.

They were optional superbosses though.

Yes, which is one thing when they're the last 2 (nearly controller-smashing) barriers between me and the plat after a game that heavily challenged me already. It's a whole other animal if I'm doing comparable boss fights to those throughout my entire playthrough. I'm just not a patient man lmao

This game is hard AF and i've played all the souls games and Elden Ring… I cannot beat this guy and he's only like the 3rd boss wtf. Probably on 20 attempts now.

I'm approaching the end of Chapter 3 I think. But so far I've realized I've had to backtrack to the prior Chapters multiple times for side quests that I couldn't start till later, or side quests that I inadvertently skipped. Also there's a curio in Chapter 3 that you lose the ability to get entirely if you don't kill certain mobs before taking down the area's boss, therefore I've already ruined my chances at 100% first playthrough, feelsbadmane.

If you do find that you're stuck on a boss, the honest answer is to backtrack and do side quests. They reward you with materials to craft better armor/weapons, sometimes a new curio, sometimes even a new gourd, spell, vessel, soak, etc. And if even doing all that you still can't win, then just camping mobs near a populated shrine will get you a few levels so that you get more sparks to shift up the game. Consider respeccing at a shrine and testing a new build idea. Consider making medicines and using them too (I like the ones that give extra damage reduction, attack, crit chance, or a specific resistance buff useful for the fight).

I've done the above a chit load, to where I'm in my lower 50s with a weapon that kinda feels OP tbh for Chapter 3. I'm killing most bosses first try if I have like 50% or more mana at the time, along with maybe 2 or more gourds.

Me also. The end boss of chapter 2. He don’t play fair, he doesn’t **** around. He is the truth.

But was stuck on him for 6 hours.

There’s tons more minions to kill in between bosses as you progress
