I just saw this posted on the Panthers forum and thought it was interesting. I missed it watching the game but they got a good zoom in on the offensive line before Cam's first touchdown pass.
http://www.panthers.com/media-vault/...c-b3eb3ae08908
Look at him read the defense, recognize a possible blitz from the left side and call it out to the o-line who immediately slides out to the left when the ball is snapped. He was right, and bam, touchdown. Remember when everyone said he wasn't intelligent enough to read an NFL defense?

Otah out with a head injury… undrafted rookie RT vs Clay Matthews? Cam might have to show off the wheels today…

pretty sure Davis finished out the game
and we are the most dangerous 0-2 team in the league. Once this team starts clicking, watch out! I think we could win the division (srs). Tampa Bay is a mess. Atlanta has no D and I think we could maybe split with New Orleans (hell, Clausen almost beat them at the Dome last year)

I'm happy about today's game. Cam breaking records two weeks in a row. Should have won last week though. Hell even today, cant get the TD's inside the 10 yard line. That's killing us. I chalk it up to bad playcalling down there. Not running it enough. It was like 3rd and 1 on the 4. Give the ball to Stewart and let him pound it up in there. Or run a QB sneak, QB draw like last week. Not pass it every down. Sh*t is killing us. We've had like 5 possessions where we were inside the 5 yard line and couldn't get a touchdown, both weeks included. Gotta fix that.
But once the d-line gets better, and Beason is back and healthy next year, along with some more o-line and cb depth, this team is going to be nasty. Hell even this year could still go 8-8. That's where I stand on my record prediction.

It's going to be inevitable to throw picks when he puts the ball in the air 40 times a game. I knew we were in trouble though when we had to kick fgs instead of score in the redzone. Good performance either way, especially without Beason and Otah. Gamble has stepped it up and Munnerlyn is playing well. The DLine is still struggling but that can't/won't be fixed this year so I guess we won't beat that dead horse. The play calling has been great though and Cam (for the most part) has been making good decisions. I'm really excited with these first two games…
And Cam made Matthews look bad several times… that's tough to do.

I tell you who I'm really impressed with these past 2 weeks, and isn't getting enough credit = Brandon LaFell. Guy is making some clutch catches. He made them last year too. I don't get why Legedu is starting over him.

The thing people have to realize is the Packers have an excellent red zone defense. They beat the Saints because of it, and did the same to us. The fact we were legitimately in this game until the very end is a sign of things to come. Now I'm not saying playoffs, but we're going to pull some upsets this season and make some noise. I said it at the beginning of the year, we may not win a lot of games but we're going to be competitive in almost every game. We have been this far.
I really hope we can get a win next week facing the Jags because after that it's a pretty rough stretch of games(Bears, Saints, Falcons I believe..).

If any of you have been a long time Panther's fan, you can see why things are looking up for us. Don't get me wrong, I loved Fox , but that style of football where you run the ball almost every down and try not to give up big plays on defense was probably holding us back. We've pretty much been an average or slightly above average team for the last decade, with only one or two really superstar caliber players. (Peppers and Smith). I just feel like if Cam can continue to grow and mature as a QB in this league, and you start to surround him with some talent over the next couple of years, we're going to be one of those top tier teams in the NFL. Cam can bring our organization that "everyone wants to see what he's going to do next play" atmosphere. And after 10 years of mediocrity, I'm excited.

Since I'm bored right now and can't sleep, do you think with the reemergence of Smith and the possible emergence of LaFell(can't forget about Gettis as well), WR will be taken off the list of needs going into the draft?
Gamble has also impressed the hell outta me after an embarrassing preseason, so corner might not be as big of a need as it was before.
Really think it's going to be an interior linemen or OT. Can't see us taking any other position.

Then after that, just get more depth at the OL, DL and CB positions.

As much as I hate our ****ty defensive tackles, I think we should take a WR if there's a prospect out there worth the pick. We need to surround Cam with as many weapons as possible on offense. This is a passing league, and it seems almost every team is putting up over 20 points week in and week out. Even on"top rated defenses". Our secondary and backers are pretty solid IMO (Even with Beason out), and we have rookie DTs. I'm sure the more they play this season the better they willget. Plus we have Johnson on one end, and a rising star in Hardy on the other. I see us kind of in the position Detroit was a few seasons ago. We have our Franchise quarterback already. We have a pretty solid defense. Stewart and Williams (if he comes around) are fine at RB. TE is solid, and then we have an aging Smith at WR. Gettis looked good last season, and Lafell has stepped up. Legedu needs to be cut. Haven't really seen too much from Edwards or the rookie out of Hawaii. But if we can get a star wide receiver, even if he only plays the slot or something, I think we'll improve vastly. Defense really is an 11 man operation, and even though our DT's are getting pushed around like shopping carts, the rest of the defense needs to commit to solid tackling. (Which they did a pretty good job of today against Rodgers). Like I said, this is a sudden change in Panthers football. We were a run first, second, and third down team for the past 10 years. But we've finally found a quarterback who can make every throw, and we need to take advantage of that. Just for me personally, it's just going to be weird to see us transition from such a conservative team to a wide open offense. But when you have all the pieces there, it's time to change.

I hate it for Thomas Davis… poor guy. When it rains it pours I guess… We definitely went from having the best overall LB core in the game (at least for 4-3 teams) to having a mediocre on now. It's going to show up a lot more with our weak DT play…
But we knew coming into this year that success wouldn't be measured in the W/L columns. It's a big year for growth and progress and we're definitely not the worst team in the NFL… though in reality (and it won't happen bc KC and some others suck way too much) it'd be incredible to land the top pick next year too and be able to hold that Luck pick hostage… imagine how many holes we could fill with what that pick would bring us.

I still don't see us being bad enough for those picks. I think we split games with every team from the NFCS and upset some teams along the way.
I just feel TERRIBLE for Davis. He is a leader on this team, is loved and respected by everyone on the Panthers, and is very active in the community. Ugh. Unfortunately it's a business, so he'll probably be released.
As long as the cap hit doesn't hurt us in the long run I'd be fine keeping him around, but then again, it's not my money. Just a horrible situation all around. BTW he recently said he wasn't retiring, so he's definitely going to keep playing.
