You guys should really fight to get more of the german brands there. They have a lot of sensible options that are more than to just show off..
Can you really drive 120 mph in Germany legally? I knew you could drive faster but I didn't think it was that fast?

I'm guessing there aren't many car accident survivors over there?

It's all about the individual car.
I'm one that has looked at lots of used cars, but always end up buying new.
But financially speaking, THAT is usually the stupidest decision. I just like new cars and I like ordering EXACTLY what I want.
I hardly ever buy off the showroom floor.
But buying luxury/sport cars used, the original owner is the one who ate all the depreciation. So financially, it's usually the best decision to buy used, even if you account for some repairs, even a tranny replacement or something big like that.
I know when I sell an audi or something, the depreciation is always like a kick in the balls.

Wrong. Performance cars need to be driven. I could dig up a 15 year old article about some dude who was having trouble with his porsche running poorly cause he drove it around at low revs like a baby all the time, so the mechanic told him to cruise at basically 3.5k while driving for a while. Fixed it.

Older cars are way cooler than newer ones, and more fun to drive. Newer ones are faster, easier tho. Older ones you can also still actually work on yourself.

But lol at brakes & oil changes. Wait until you have to replace that disintegrated timing chain tensioner. And if the original tensioner hasn't gone yet, it will soon. $4,000 is a conservative estimate as you'll want to replace the water pump, chain, & guides while the engine is torn apart.

FYI "as an engineer" breaks and oil changes hardly qualify as a repair. Think how much it will be when you have to fix a real engine problem. Being an engineer doesn't literally mean you can work on engines you know?

I had a 2003 Lexus GS300, bought with 175k miles, sold it with 245k miles. Ran like a motherfuking dream.
Also had a 2003 Lexus LS430, only did oil changes and air filter replacements (had an air purifying system). Had the GS300 from 2013-2015

Lexus quality for life motherfuker, fuk bmw/merc they blow dink in regards to longevity.

Yes I am a semi Hippocrate by putting 7-series bmw wheels on my lexus but they look dam good on it

That link is a Euro loving fluff piece. I believe they may have less accidents but I bet more people die in those accidents on the autobahn. There is no way more people are surviving accidents at 100mph or more. Then people who are getting in accidents at 50-60 mph

If it's not a daily driver and you can afford to fix it when chit breaks then go for it. BUT if it's your daily driver and you can't afford to fix it when chit breaks, then I'd just get something new around the same price.

Whats with some people being scared of high mileage???? I dont get it. For me the higher the mileage the better means the car been driver not sat rotting in garage.

I have only had hogh mileage cars bough for cheap cos of people being scared lol.
Never ever had any repair worth over 500$ and i have had some rare luxury cars.
Where u all getinng 3000+$ repairs from???nechanic is robing u lot that what happens.

Seat ibiza sold at 160k mileage
Alfa romeo 159 ti spe ial edition got rear ended ar 125k mileage
Ford mindeo 210k miles
Mercedes clk 175k mileage.

I drive my car everyday only seel whwn i crash. Drive till wheels fall off. No repairs nothing.

Would never buy newish car. I have money for it but i park in **** areas got countless times hit by doors shopping carts and so on. Its just to much stress lol

I've got a Lotus that's older than 10 years and a Maserati that's coming up on 10 years soon enough, both are fantastic cars, though I don't daily drive either of them

Agreed with OP. Guy at my last job bought a 6 year old BMW with like 70k miles. I tried telling him that was a bad idea but the kid didn’t listen. So a couple years later his car A) looked outdated af, and B) required $12k in repairs.

What u on about 12k repairs? U americans r so dumb... Mechanics are robbing u.
Max repair i paid was 300$. My mercedes got 175k miles and i dont even bother change oil or filter car runs better than any new shatmobile..from 120k to 175k i havent spent a penny in repairs lol
