fwiw I noticed that English analysts and/or Strikers are far more slanted towards Ronaldo. Midfielders towards Messi, and continental europeans tend to be split.

If you read those stats, Messi's twice as effective a finisher outside the box, which is insane. The point of these kind of stats isn't to say one is better than the other, but to highlight the differences in their roles and play styles. This isn't as clear cut a comparison as comparing two center forwards, imo.
There's a good reason Messi scores less in the box: he's small. Ronaldo has that physical ability.
or I guess I should say, less headers, not sure about in-the-box goals overall.

In terms of long shot ability i dont think theres much in it. Messi is better from just outside but then wouldnt be capable of goals like Ronaldo’s v sporting for united

Ronaldo is the more complete player easily - so it makes sense that so many coaches would prefer him as their 1st player. I think the theory that Messi would be less effective in another league has some merit tbh, because midfielders in the prem play nothing like Barcelona's midfielders. He would still be best in the league...just not as effective. Based off my observations of him against English competition in the CL.

Always blows my mind when people consider Ronaldo better than Messi. All it takes is to watch one game of each to realize they are wrong.
Messi is the GOAT in the most important categories. Passing, dribbling and scoring. Scoring wise his rival is Ronaldo, Dribbling wise his rival is Maradona/Best, Passing wise is rivals are Xavi/Pirlo etc.
But he is a GOAT contender for ever one of those categories. Ronaldo is a good scorer, Messi is that and much more. Trophies-wise they are around the same i think, except Messi has more La Ligas, but trophies are not the end deciding factor anyway since its a team's sport, not an individual one.
Literally blows my mind how can people make this kind of threads after a Ronaldo's average header, which Cavani/Higuan/even Falcao score every weekend or so lol, but hey whatever.

"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

And then there's another player who I think was more talented than Messi - I consider Ronaldinho the most talented player of all time, but he'll never be in the GOAT discussion because he didn't have the staying power to get consistent accomplishments, despite the fact he's a FIFA World Player of the Year, Balon d'Or Winner, World Cup Champ, and Champions League Winner.
That's how I look at the game, anyways.

Its not only the level of competition its the importance of the match. Cl knockout phase is football’s version of the playoffs, its a different game.

And if Barcelona wins the treble this year and Madrid wins nothing what excuses are you gonna make? Or are you gonna stay silent? Well have fun living in your own little bubble I guess. Oh and once again keep ignoring all my questions and changing the subject. Peace.

Ronaldo has been considerably more prolific in the champions league, not only has he more all time goals and assists than messi in the biggest competitionhe has more goals since joining real madrid than messi has in all his time at barca. Thats despite messi having a 5 year headstart.

no single stat tells the story
the best one in general, is average points with and without player
could only find win percentage win and without
browsing around web, around year ago, 0 difference without and without ronaldo and 4% negative win percentage without messi
right now, would you want messi or ronaldo for your team

Messi is a playmaker that will pass, dribble and score on his own whilst Real’s playstyle and tactic revolves around assisting Ronaldo in order for him to shine as the great finisher he is.
As to who is objectively the best with the ball, Ronaldo doesn’t even come close to the skills of Messi
