Thinking about not watching the Rian Johnson-trilogy, but will likely end up watching anyways.
I trhink the Game of Thrones-writers could make an awesome trilogy though. Since they have been writing GoT might have been lacking some depth and the consistent writing of G.R.R. Martin, but it gained some really awesome action scenes, where many characters got to look really cool especially in the last season. Luckily a Star Wars film only needs the latter.
Guess the see the angry fans as a vocal minority and the money they made as hard data.

I don't work at Disney marketing, but I can see them invent a strategy, where they believe the Star Wars fans will keep watching despite nerd rage, while they can expand on their viewer base by targeting women and minorities with empowerment stuff.
Now some posters have mentioned how a similar tactic failed for Marvel, but only time will tell, if it works for Star Wars. They certainely made it cool among young women to be Star Wars fans.

ESB - Coolest movie ever, snow troopers, at-ats, crazy vader ending.
ANH - still one of the most magical movies ever made
Prequels - even the jar jar one. Obi-wan and Cal-gon plus all the droids and clone troopers were great.
RotJ - last real cannon sw. Some good scenes before they get to endor. Leia in metal bikini was nice touch.

The Phantom Menace- Midichlorians. Politics. Jar Jar Binks. Pod Racing where the camera goes from left to right the entire time. But it expands on the Star Wars Universe and gives the Darth Maul fight and Duel of the Fates. 3/5 maybe 2/5
Attack of the Clones-Love Story is worst than Twilight. Chitty Dialogue. Only redeemable thing is it starts the Clone Wars. 2/5.
Revenge of the Sith-Shakespearean Tragedy with Chitty Dialogue. 3/5 maybe 4/5
The Force Awakens-Loved JJ Abrams ADHD directing but no world building. I mean it's basically Empire vs Rebels 2.0. No points for originality. 4/5
The Last Jedi- Bastardized Luke's character. Canto Bight and Rose is wtf! Ignores Force Awakens mystery boxes. Chitty plot with Star Crusier running out of gas. 1/5.

Of course its' acceptable to call out a group and blame them, because they are white males? lol. This isn't Star Wars, it's some butchery. It should have never been sold off, it's no longer Lucas's universe, just a bunch of corporse SJWs formulating who they can appeal to male the most profit. Last Jedi was trash, insulted the fans, and had an obvious ham-fisted political agenda.
Telling me I'm sexist and toxic because I found the movies trash is not the way to get my dollar. Sorry Star Wars, you won't get any cash from me, and I grew up with the series. The media isn't doing anyone favors by constantly bashing straight white people. But they'll continue doing so, driving division between people over petty non-issues. Skin color is incredibly insignificant, but apparently it's the only thing any of us should focus on. That and genitals and pronouns.

The sad part is that the spin-offs are leaps and bounds better than TFA and (especially) TLJ. Unfortunately, no one will acknowledge that Solo did poorly because of how ****ty TLJ was and how off-putting Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy's pretentiousness really is, not because it was a bad film (I quite enjoyed it).
