I don't watch a lot of sports, but I've seriously tried to enjoy watching soccer and it's just so boring. Can any Europeans here tell me how to enjoy the sport? I'd rather watch tennis dead srs

From what I gathered in this thread, because a sport is watched by more people = it's the most athletically challenging. Lol.

I'm a soccer fan and have played most of my life, but it's rare for most Americans to care about it. And as someone who isn't very athletically gifted and played soccer, I can definitely say that you don't need to be athletic to be good.. It's mainly about cardio and developing ball skills. Not much athleticism involved. I don't know how anyone with a two eyes could watch a basketball game and then a soccer game and somehow conclude that the soccer game was more athletic lol.

Naw, just go back and read the back-and-forth I had with him, you'll see what I'm saying. Neither of us is saying that soccer is more athletic. We were discussion why the athletes from USA don't go into soccer/football, and I showed it was because there is no money there.

I'm not concerned about people making lulzy "well, more people do ______ so it must be better" arguments because Hillary had the popular vote LMAO. That's all that needs to be said about more=better.

At my school, the soccer team had to drive down the street and practice at the elementary school srs. Games were held on the little junior varsity field. They weren't really allowed on the football field because that was for football lol. Also, every Friday night is for football so their games were always on some random midweek night. Zero respect, these euros have no idea.

I can assure you, I didn't care then either. I don't remember watching a single game. All I did was glance at the highlights. For me it was;

-oh neat, we beat X country.
-oh thats lame, all that running around just to tie with Y country.
-oh well, we lost to Z country.

and then I went on with my life. You must have been confused. The only people hyped were most likely Mexicans living in the US (and there are a lot of them, lol) and Aussies.

I said this in the previous"LOL Americans suck at "futbol" thread": Its hard to relay how little we care about "futbol" so the only way I can conceptualize it is this; Think about the morale the rest of the world has for, say, American Football, but superimpose that feeling on Americans for "futbol." Thats how much we care.

We're not coping, we're not buthurt we really just don't care. Now there's miscers in this thread marginalizing the olympics saying it doesn't count even though its been the Litmus Test for a countries level of athleticism for over 100 years in its current form. If anythingthatis a textbook definition of "cope"

A lot of exaggeration in this thread from both sides, but that was to be expected. Millions of people in the US enjoy soccer. MLS attendance is, on average, higher than the NBA and NHL. That league is not good by any measure. A lot of that is due to larger stadiums, but to suggest Americans don't care is ridiculous.

Not an American, but America has great athletes in almost anything? They are bad at football because you earn midget dicks in the MLS compared to everything else because of their salary cap system. So if you have exceptional athletic talents, you go to the NFL/Olympic discipline/MLB/NBA/NHL where you get far greater contract. If there's huge money to be earned through it domestically, the US will breed good athletes for it. Right now it's not as much worth it as other sports, especially because foreign players are better and easier to come by.

You can get a scrub from a midget country like The Netherlands and he'll be one of the best players in the MLS. Look at Laurent Ciman, some kunt who was a laughing stock in Belgium is one of the best defenders in the MLS? Really? That's just pathetic. And that also means that young dudes have a huge amount of competition.
