Why are Americans such poor athletes?

America a nation of 400m people, with all kinds of people and all kind of genetic profiles, still cannot qualify for the worlds biggest sporting competition out of the easiest group.

I guess it puts them on par with countries like India and China who have large populations but also poor sporting performance. The compounding factor is Americans have all kinds of genetics in their population... so we can only conclude American culture produces poor athletes...

I guess all those big dish servings and sugary drinks don't work out for you on the field.

So who you guys supporting now that you can;t qualify? I heard Nigeria is the most heavily supported team in the US. Who would have though

I only know one person who watches the world cup and he gets made fun of for it mercilessly

Maybe our more liberal and gayer cities care about the world cup. They can be a vocal minority on the internet so maybe that's where you got this impression from. As a true American though, I can assure you at no point in my life have I ever, or will I ever care about lesser countries and their squabbling over the poverty ball championship.

Easy to win in the Olympics, 33 different sports which nobody cares about, except insecure countries trying to show off. World cup is where's it's at and you get beat out by third world tiny countries, but great job on those 30 medals in 30 varieties of swimming lol.

ITT I learned that America sucks at a sport that gets minimal attention, support, coverage, and poverty salaries. All the genetically talented kiddos are being put into basketball and American football at early ages. No money in soccer

Yes, because everyone in the world is competing to win the world cup, there is huge fan support and money. It is the biggest sporting competition with the most competitors, interest and money.

Winning medals in 50 kinds of swimming events just shows you just pumped more money into a minority sport that no one cares about.

Americans are just poor athletes it's probably down to their excessive body weight. Big fat Americans are more inclined to play non-sports like handegg, where half the team is on cardiac arrest watch.
