It's awesome. They teach you every little detail on the cinematography, and there's entire sections on casting and filming for Fellowship.

They started like back in 1996. Still blows my mind the word WETA Workshop did.

Ultimately, Tolkien modeled Gandalf after the archangels in Christianity. He’s not truly a human being and his spirit can’t be defeated. I would say Gandalf can’t ever really be defeated whereas Sauron can.

You can get them on amazon (extra features and all) for less than $60, which is a good price considering all you get. Though I understand not wanting to spend on entertainment when your finances are a little too tight.

sauron in his prime, basically with his body and ring, would be way above gandalf

I remember being in elementary school when The Fellowship came out. Right after it came out we'd play Orcs vs. The Fellowship during recess on the super cool playground we had. The kids who were the Orcs would scream "Find the Halflings!" and chase the other kids around. Good times.

Oh and 1 and 2 are my favorites and I watch them over and over again. Return of the King is good but I don't enjoy it as much as the other two. Overall these movies and the original Star Wars trilogy are movies I'll watch until the end of my days.

gandalf with the ring would crush sauron and vice versa

however, without the ring, it's tough to say

when the wizards were being sent to Middle Earth, gandalf didn't want to go at first because he said he "was afraid" of Sauron and then he was told that is preciously why he needs to go

so if you count humility as a strength, then gandalf was maybe underestimating his power, but i don't think Tolkien ever made it clear who was more powerful without the ring (I don't think Tolkien was ever really concerned with who was stronger than who, it was more about series of events that lead to outcomes)

they are both Maia though, same type of being

Just threw The Fellowahip on. I love how little CGI was used in these movies, it makes it feel so much more real. I hated the CGI in The Hobbit movies. Same with Star Wars Episodes I-III, it just wasn't as immersive with everything being CGI.

Gandalf has a lot of friends other than fellowship. Does Sauron? He only has minions and they are ugly and unreliable. The diversity of Gandalf's friends could offer unknown surprises at the right moment. I vote for Gandalf. You aren't talking one on one, are you?

I always played an Ogre, we call it Oni where I live........big boys always play heroes I think it doesn't mean sense because I was one of the smallest boys. Why couldn't I play a hobbit and shouldn't big boys have played Uruk-hai? LOL...anyway, it's nevertheless one of the fond memories of my childhood. And the Fellowship is the best.

Here in Japan, "LOTR The Fellowship Of The Ring" is known as "Yubiwa Monogatari - Tabi no Nakamatachi" (The tale of the rings - The fellowship of the quest)

Anyone able to verify that 4k UHD won't ever be available? I read somewhere that the footage is 2k at best, so they can't do 4k UHD without upscaling.

They are all good but the Fellowship of the Ring movie blew my mind when it came out. Felt so immersive on the big screen, a crazy well-developed world.

it's such a shame most of the actors in LOTR didn't get any huge successful acting roles afterwards. all talented actors.

yeah the fellowship of the ring is in my opinion the greatest film ever made. there is so much in that film. so much depth. i've watched it i think around 10 times. and could seriously keep watching it more than that lmao

the character of frodo is so ****ing solid. they all are, but frodo. man such a great character. i don't think we'll ever see a character like him again. the smallest, and "seemingly" the weakest of all the creatures, carrying the heaviest burden of the world. and he keeps going. he's the kindest character in the series too.

eowyn's one of the other under appreciated character imo. her actress was amazing.

This can't be right, isn't Sauron the one true master of the ring? Anyone else wielding it would just be an easy target for him. It's why in fellowship Boromir suggesting they should use it against Sauron was such a dumb idea, "you cannot wield it, none of us can".

he is the master, but gandalf is the same race as sauron and would have been able to wield it

the ring would, no doubt, end up corrupting him and he'd become the new dark lord

but with it he could kick saurons ass because sauron was at like 50% power without the ring

Viggo Mortenson is awesome. Hidalgo is a fukking sick movie. But obviously super underrated performances by all involved in the trilogy.

viggo is one of the dudes that shoud've got more roles. he had a lot of potential. idk if he's still acting now.

what are some of your guys favorite quotes?

mine is the part where galadriel shows frodo the mirror, galdriel says "this task was appointed to you, and if you do not find a way, no one will" and frodo says: "then i know what i must do... it's just i'm afraid to do it"

such a good character ****. they'll never make another character like this again. i actually never really appreciated and realized how good frodo's character is until recently.

that scene is the most mainstream brah. 10/10 scene but if someone doesn't realize that is one of the best scenes ever in any media then they are truly a *******.
