I'm legit envious.

I was watching some Twitch brahs the other day. One dude straight confessed that he makes 5K a month, and another confessed that he has about half a mil in the bank.

Based on knowing how much monthly subs make in revenue for streamers, and knowing that they get donations and sponsorship deals... I believe they aren't bullchitting.

I swear; first-world, overly structured nations just turn to blubbering messes at the first sign of possible disruptions to their lifestyle.

In UK, 590 or so people have caught the virus...out of a population of 65+ million. Only 10 have died (most likely elderly or already unwell people) but everyone seems to be acting like it's the bubonic plague/black death which is going to tear through the population wreaking bloody havoc.

What's the actually mortality rate? not even 0.5% I would say. Most people will actually recover without any serious issues. Prostrate cancer kills on average 11,700 men per year in UK, but that isn't news I guess.

Too much hype around this C19 chit.

it's cause you want to limit exposure. one infection has the propensity to spread it far

so drastic measures need to be taken to stop it. i kind of agree with that suggestion about making people get it, build up immunity that way. but the problem is you can't have everybody going to the hospital at the same time inundating the health care system. then disabling a significant portion of infected people getting healthcare, spreading it even more

We are seeing an appropriate reaction if this were airborne ebola, which is a fictional illness I just made up.

Eh, would say the last couple of days are the closest I've gotten to a "misc meltdown". Potentially getting hit from multiple angles by this virus just as I was trying to get back on my feet.

I don't think too many people are getting this yet. Probably because it isn't being mentioned very much by the media.

Some things I have been looking for in multiple spots for nearly 2 weeks. And it isn't stuff that is usually expensive or hard to find- I'm looking at you rubbing alcohol.

Actually nausea and diarrhea have been reported as symptoms. Not universal, not publicized much, and not the worst thing that can happen by any measure.

Just got a message that Ohio public schools are closing indefinitely.

It is airborne. Rate of infection estimates vary with the highest I have seen being smallpox level. Hospitalization rates of 10% to 20%. Fatality rate estimates ranging from about 1% to 4%. Survivors with damage to various organ systems.

It isn't airborne ebola, but it isn't "just the flu" by any means.

If you have enough food/supplies for 3-6 months its probably irrelevant. But the advantages to cash on hand is during natural disasters you run into problems like power outages. Computers/credit card machines 'not working'. And you lose the ability to toss someone cash for something you want.

You're most likely thinking you can easily make orders online and have a delivery service bring something. Or you can run down to the local store and use your credit card. But what do you do when online purchases aren't being delivered. Your big box stores either are completely out or are closed. And your smaller markets/stores only accept cash?

Happens all the time during natural disasters FYI. Next time we get a good hurricane here I'll snap pictures of stores/businesses putting out signs saying cash only/ they only accept cash. Simple truth is nobody knows how bad things will get and how long it'll last. 5K is not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things. But its a hell of a lot more then a credit card that won't swipe.

Any compensation beyond your typical paid time off?

I'd like to see Trump step in and give everyone making less than 100K a tax break equal to 2 weeks of pay so we could get a coordinated self quarantine going.

Just talked to an acquaintance of mine who manages a large hotel in the area. Every single event is cancelled for the next 2 months already. Tomorrow they are laying off almost half the staff and cutting everyone else's hours.

I think the corona virus is going to mutate into something far worse than what the world is dealing with right now. After thar its game over.

The 1st wave of the spanish flu was bad, but it was the second wave that went absolutely HAM and killed 40 million. Imagine we get past this thing over the summer and then next year, people start dropping like flies.

I’m not telling you that you should or should not, but you just have to be aware that things are moving so fast right now, and you may be stuck wherever you travel to under quarantine or something.

My wife is supposed to be going to New York with some of her friends for a wedding thing in April. It’s already looking like that’s out of the question.
