1. In drive thru, Dude who can barely speak english takes my order.
2. I order 2 McChickens(2 Mcchickens for $2.50) and a large fries.
3. Repeats order, He said 2 McChickens and an apple pie.
4. Correct him, Say i want fries not pie.
5. Says my total and seems off. Looked at the menu after i drove off and saw McChickens are $1.69 each. When the deal is 2 for $2.50
6. I get to window, I say that i wanted the 2 for $2.50 McChickens deal.
7. Says "Oh, ok"
8. Comes back and says your total is $8.80. Im like "Wut, The fuking deal is 2 for $2.50".
9. He says "OH OHHHHH YOU WANT SPECIAL"
10. Me: "...."

the machine would have been cheaper to design, materials cheaper to acquire, machine cheaper to make, manufacturers would have realized that labor is still cheap so they charge less for the automation
even if minimum wage 7 an hour the machine would just cost 20k-25k and owners would still buy it cause the machine would last a decade and pay it self out after 2 years
vs
15 minimum wage and the machine costing 35k and paying it self off after 1 year
raising the minimum wage is just expediting the process, but this would have happened eventually anyways. but its cause technology is evolving. not cause labor is getting more expensive, but technology is betting better and cheaper
they cant just suddenly lower minimum wage now to what it was 5-10 years ago. how are these people supposed to pay their rent? buy food?

If a fast food company wanted to raise their minimum wage to 15 an hour then that's okay but if you want to force a company to do it then what do you expect ? they're either going to go out of business or adapt by hiring robots.

A moron is a person who appears smart but lacks insight and causes disaster in the long run.
If automaton replaces low wage employees, then who will buy his burgers?
People like him will bankrupt a whole segment of the population, that will increase the draw on welfare, that will drain more money from the middle class, and cause a greater loss of funds, and destroy our civilization more than it is. The cost is far greater than giving workers a raise.
People like this aren't "economical" or capitalists, they're morons.

Rustles my jimmies when people cheer on automation, sayin chit like "they can never automate my job". That might be true (it isn't but let's pretend that you're not an idiot) but by automating some % of sectors it will change the employment landscape and put pressure on other areas. Alternatively, large-scale automation may lead to a social underclass whose welfare you'll need to fund.
At some point society has to say "there is a social benefit to employment, and companies who profit from our society need to improve it via direct employment where appropriate".

Once they put a human-machine barrier with all jobs, services, support channels, government etc between the human elite and the human middle class/poor you wont be able to argue or debate it will be the machines programmed way and thats that.

Adapt or die. Learn how to program/fix robots and you'll be fine, other wise you are ****ed. No different to people in agriculture losing jobs to advancements in the industrial revolution.
