Panthers should sign Steve Smith to fill the hole left behind by Smitty. throw #89 on him and I doubt the casual Panthers fan even notices.

I imagine the Colts offered more guaranteed money. Panthers offered "more" but i bet it was incentive laden

also:

Adam Schefter ********@AdamSchefter 3m
Former Saints Pro-Bowl S Roman Harper reached agreement with Panthers on a two-year, $4.5M deal that includes $1.5M sign bonus, per source.

Just a question…WTF are the Panthers doing? Roman Harper? That dude can't even cover his own shadow. Hoping he's just there for special teams, veteran locker room leadership and as a "play in case of extreme desperation" type sub.
Russell Wilson, the first QB in NFL history to throw a game-winning interception.

"So you got fired again eh?" "Yeah, they always freak out when you leave the scene of an accident."

Spiders are like offensive linemen, the best ones do their job and you never notice them.

An obvious example of New Math.

Kinda hard to polish a turd. :P Carolina would do well drafting a guy like Jimmie Ward in the 2nd round or even Clinton-Dix in the first round. With the way the NFL is setup, with a good front seven, cornerbacks are essentially expendable but you need at least one pretty damn good safety.

Mike Mitchell was seen as a turd, just sayin'

Not saying he'll be good; fully aware of how terrible Harper is.

Need WR and OL way more than a safety.

What's ****ed up is you cut Steve Smith and then sign the guy who cheap-shotted him :P

Well the draft is pretty stacked at WR, not so much at safety, OL depth is decent. A guy like Jarvis Landry who had an awful Combine but jumps out at you in his game performances, with amazing hands and route running, would be a nice get for Cam, a true security blanket who catches everything thrown in his general direction, that and a guy like Martavis Bryant who is a tall, true vertical threat that can get downfield in a hurry.

At least we didn't resign Lafell, Robert Lester must be terrible in practice if they need to sign Roman Harper.

If the panthers don't draft this guy (if he's there) I'm going to rage

lol at the media/etc highlight us not having any WR's on the roster.

We will 100% sign one of the remaining FA's. I've heard rumblings that we're interested in James Jones and have spoken with him.. and honestly what FA WR was better than him? Golden Tate I'd say definitely, maybe Decker.. but the gap isn't significant between them. Jones put up 59rec, 817 yards, 3 TD's in 14 games with Aaron Rodgers missing significant time(and worth noting that the 2 games Jones missed were games started by Rodgers..) Then there are guys like Rice, Holmes.. lol. Still though. Let's look at the best case scenario just for fun and say we sign Jones..

-That's James Jones, a receiver more than capable of putting up better stats than any receiver we had.
-A damn near guarantee 1st round receiver, and honestly probably another draftee
-You gotta imagine that there will be some well known guys that'll get cut during the preseason as teams slim down rosters..

Jeez guise wut we gonna do we aren't gonna be ready for the season no recevrs

should have brought peppers back so we could split him out wide and throw him fades like the old days. but im still on board with you, i think id rather have jones than nicks anyway. as a top tier team you want guys who do their jobs consistently, not wildcards. if we could land jones id be pumped. hes oresently more productive than smitty anyway… even as a #3 target compared to smitty being a #1

Also, I'm tired of having to "cover" for our lack of secondary.
If we had atleast some decency back there wed have prolly the best defense in football.

Gonna have to do it on undrafted FA and maybe some 4-6 round picks.

saw over on the Huddle that the Panthers apparently really like Brandin Cooks. not sure how I feel about that. he's won the Belitnikoff award 2 straight years (best WR in NCAA) but he's only like 5'10 and i'm really hoping for bigger WR's for Cam to throw to.

sounds like he might not even make it to us though. supposedly Jets love him and Saints could pick him right before us

If we pass on benjamin ill be sick, granted, he may not be there. im guessing the TE signing all but rules out ebron or amaro, too

i would much rather have Benjamin if he is there. he might take more work though as opposed to someone like Cooks or Jordan Matthews. if we miss out on Benjamin we need to either grab Martavis Bryant or Brandon Coleman in the 3rd. both are the same size as Benjamin

that could be the strategy. take al all-around wr in the first. ol/db second, then grab one of the bigger project wr later. would kinda make sense but if we can land jones our ned for a big playmaker wont be as urgent right now so really best wr available would make sense

i think that is what will happen. Cooks is probably the 2nd best all-around WR in the draft after Watkins. snag him then either Bryant or Coleman later and thats a good start

Jerricho Cotchery will be visiting the Panthers tomorrow, so that could be a good veteran pickup

also, i can't fuging stand the Huddle right now. everyone over there is acting like a bunch of women who all hit their periods at the same time

I'd love to get Cotchery. He had a great year for the steelers this year. 10 TDs iirc. I'm Probably a little biased though because he is a wolfpacker . I wanted Nicks bad too though.

Edit- he had 13 touchdowns last season.
