It's still worth a shot. When division rivals are in our thread saying we got a good player it's usually a good sign, just saying. I cannot fukking wait until our offense next season scores more PPG than the offense last season.

A lot of receivers can't produce in NE. The scheme is very complicated and is pretty tough on receivers mentally.

In any case, what exactly did you have to lose? Panthers had literally no receivers. Did he cost a lot to sign? No. Did they have to trade picks to get him? No. Did you have to waste a pick in the draft? No. Not sure what the problem is. Carolina's depth was (is) so low that they can't rely solely on the draft, and apparently didn't have the cash to sign a bigger name receiver.

Not sure why you butthurt on getting a decent veteran for cheap lol.

I for one can't wait to see this new receiving corps go up against our new defense. Gonna be interdasting football.

whose butt hurt? I replied to a comment in which he said Underwood is better than Ginn, I disagreed.

Why are you guys sh*tting on every FA that leaves the team? You know damn well Ginn is better than Underwood and I would of liked to have him back this year to see if he can build more chemistry with Cam.

Next thing you know we trade Cam and you guys will start talking trash about him

I highly doubt Underwood is going to be better than Ginn, but honestly he's not going to be noticeably worse either. And he can't be worse than LaFell.

I was clearly joking man. No offense intended.

^This. LaFell, Ginn, Underwood… all the same difference. The Panthers FO needs to step the fuk up and get y'all a legit receiver trio.

Yup. Everyone seems to be forgetting Olsen, though.. I was as big a critic on his drops, not reaching his athletic potential(he may not be Gronk/Graham level but he's one of the more athletic TE's in the NFL).. but he was still our best receiver last season..

The offense last year was 18th in PPG.. and that number was seriously inflated by the offense obliterating subpar teams during the beginning of the win streak. Not saying those points don't count but the tough games against tough teams that we won, we won on our defense with the offense routinely sh*tting the bed until late in the 4th.

I am very pessimistic when it comes to sports, rightfully so given my favorite teams past several years.. I rarely, if ever, even consider best case scenarios, but for fun..

What if the receiver we draft high has a Julio Jones caliber rookie season?
What if Jonathan Stewart actually stays healthy and returns to his early career successes? He was a dominant back before the injury bug. If he comes back strong he adds a whole new dimension to this offense.
What if Cotchery continues what he did in Pittsburgh and just clutches all over everyone? He scored 10 touchdowns last season; more than any Panthers receiver. He is consistently among the top in 3rd down catch % and he could have a career year considering he's at worst going to be the #2 receiver.

Obviously most of that sh*t is incredibly unrealistic but the main point I'm hitting on is the fact at how MEDIOCRE our offense was last season.. yet people are so damn concerned about losing players on said mediocre offense.

Just Cotchery and Underwood. Britt is still a possibility if he comes for a visit.

Also word they Mike Williams from TB could be cut after his stabbing incident. I'd take him

So Bill Barnwell is discussing the rule changes for next year and the tabling of the move back of the extra point:

Turning extra points into what would be a 43-yard field goal attempt would certainly make it a more meaningful play. Kickers are virtually perfect on extra points; over the past five years, they’ve hit on 76.2 percent of their attempts from the 25-yard line. That figure would rise as kickers practiced hitting from that exact range, and my suspicion is that about 80 percent of extra-point tries from the 25 would go through.

It’s an interesting strategic question to consider. It should certainly incentivize teams to go for two more frequently, since it would change the value proposition involved. Now, since teams are almost always ensured one point by going for it, two-point conversions make sense only in a vacuum, if you think you can succeed more than 50 percent of the time. Teams have converted at a 48.2 percent clip over the past five years. If you’re going to succeed on only 80 percent of your extra-point attempts, the break-even rate changes; were this rule to go into effect, you would need to succeed on only more than 40 percent of your two-point conversions to justify going for two every time.4 It should turn a number of clubs (Carolina being the obvious example) into teams that primarily go for two, but since this is the NFL, I doubt that will happen.
Would be so hng watching the Panthers always go for two.

Avant will be a solid pick up. Supposed to be solid in the locker room and have great hands. I feel that after acquiring free agents like this they may use the first pick on a LT then choose a WR in the 2nd given that there will still be some pretty solid talent available. As much as Id love to have Brandin cooks lineing up on the team, if we can acquire a franchise tackle I'd be very pleased.

I like it. looks like we'll be running more 2 TE sets. Cam was really good with these during his rookie year. don't know why we got rid of them.

combine the 2 TE sets with Cam's improvement in decision making and I think he could have a monster year

Change of scenery could always help. also, Olsen is still the #1 receiving target at TE. Dickson would be the #2 TE like Olsen was when we had Shockey

True. I'm still optimistic he will do ok. It just brought me down a little when he said it. Didn't know much about him. I know they have pita and daniels now which is I guess why dickson was a fa.
