You lack a certain amount of aggression out there. You seem to have a cardio and strength advantage on everyone so use it! Keep the pressure up and use aggressive tactics
You're right! When I first started training BJJ I made some enemies among the women at my gym by being overly aggressive and spazzy. I have since developed the bad habit of going easy on other women. To an extent I also get paralyzed by simple anxiety during competition, which is something I'll work on psychologically.

I have no idea about the dynamics of female relationships inside of a training group but when it comes to full blown competition fuk em if they get mad. They're only mad cause knocked their vag in the dirt and they got salty about it. As long as you stay within the rules go 110 on these bitches

Do you still lift while doing bjj? How often do you train?

Do you have aspirations of having a zyzz like aesthetic physique?

Would you consider trt when you get older to keep on muscle/recovery/youthfulness?

Yes, I do lift. I train BJJ 4-6 days a week and lift 1-2 days a week.

I don't want a zyzz-like physique but I'm chasing a six-pack. :P Someday.

I wouldn't consider trt and I'm not sure that's as much of a thing for women... in any case, I would consider it an unfair advantage in BJJ competition and wouldn't do it.

Ah cool, how is your recovery? Can you still train intense when you lift?

Do you think the other way around is viable? Lift intense 3-4 days a week, and casually train 1-2 times a week?

I don't lift as intensely as I used to, no.

I actually don't think it's viable to lift 3-4 days a week and train BJJ 1-2 times and get good. You really need to build up hours on the mat to develop reflexes, and at least 3 days a week of training is required for that, based on what many others have told me.

I haven't seen it, but I'll watch it now. I have to take a couple days off BJJ as my knee bursitis is acting up and my knee is quite swollen and painful (gross little bubble beneath the skin above the kneecap and hurts to bend it quickly or land on it). ASDLKJLAKJSD ugh.

The worst movie depiction of lesbian sex was Disobedience. My girlfriend and I turned to each other in the theater and went "ew." There was like, spitting in each other's mouths and it grossed me out so much. I was like "Great now everyone will think that is what lesbian sex is."

I don't care what names people call techniques, in fact a lot of the time the bjj lingo is better...Mount for instance is better than top saddle, guard better than body scissors..

But there are times that bjj goes full retard and renames moves for no reasons...To rename a hammerlock a passion lock is the dumbest and most hipster thing in the world.

I know it really make you mad, but I refer to many moves the under the name that I learned them, others I refer to using the bjj terms...

I hope you can accept that and stop derailing this thread.

Yeah, for sure.

The first injury I got was really bad bursitis in my left knee. That was last February.

Then I broke my fifth metacarpal in a freak accident on my first day back at training.

Then I partially tore my quadriceps tendon (also the left side) along with a really bad deep muscle bruise that meant I couldn't bend my knee at all for a month. It was some of the worst pain I'd ever felt. That happened late May. I didn't come back to training until mid-July.

Unfortunately, my left knee is still prone to bursitis and building up fluid, and it's currently acting up so I'm taking a few days off. I don't know what exacerbated it but it's frustrating. At least I can walk. I'm icing it constantly as well. Wish me luck, guys.

Yikes, thats quite a list...

Do you do anything differently as far as physical preparation is concerned from when after you had those injuries?

Yeah, I quit Olympic lifting and take more off days from training. I could probably have kept this current knee flareup from happening if I'd skipped Monday, but I wanted to fix all the mistakes I'd made in the tournament by diving back into training. Lesson learned.

I asked the PT I saw after my last knee injury if it was due to any weaknesses, but he said no--I'm strong. It's just overuse and inflammation.

I'm not a person who has to be motivated to train... I need to be motivated NOT to. If my body would take it, I'd train twice a day every day. But it won't so I can't.

Interesting question. Folk science theory is that it has to do with higher levels of testosterone, but some research has shown that testosterone levels don't actually affect sexual preference as much as we'd expect.

For me--part of it has to do with wanting what I saw my brother had, which was real pleasure in a sports pursuit and in being able to have friends he bonded with through sports. I really liked that culture of sports camaraderie and the idea of that type of acceptance. It's nice to be able to be friends with men and with women and to feel like both respect me regardless of how well, or poorly, I perform my expected gender role. Something I love about BJJ is getting male friendship out of it--a friendship of teammates instead of them just objectifying me sexually--as well as female friendship with women who are tough and admirable. It's always something I've wanted as being gay can be quite lonely and I've spent a long time feeling outcast from a lot of groups.

So I guess maybe: sports is an arena lesbians can feel accepted socially despite not being traditionally feminine.

That's also part of why I joined this community here. The bro-culture of fitness community appealed to me because I didn't fit in in other places. Now that I have fuller self-acceptance I DO fit in with MANY groups socially (my theater friends, comic book friends, gay friends obviously, etc.) but still appreciate the cleanness of sports and lifting. No BS, you do what you do.

I haven't seen it. We can both watch and then report back with what we think of it.

When I'm in the mood for softcore lesbian porn I just rewatch The L Word.

Rugby, cricket, soccer, hockey - always lots of lesbians
Don't forget about basketball. A recent WNBA retiree said that 98% of the league were lesbians and that she was one of the very few straight ones. Out of the 3 all state women's basketball players that went to high schools with me 2 were lesbians so at least anecdotally it checks out
