He actually looks really good. He explodes through holes (thats what she said) and seems like a reliable backup. 100x better than barner was.

Did you guys catch any of the game? I only watched a little bit because the starters didnt play. KB dropped a TD he should have caught, Anderson threw a jumpball and he towered over some little DB. I bet he catches it next time.

If he becomes reliable at pulling down those kinds of jump balls, Cam will have the confidence to take some deep shots to him and just let him go up and get it like Stafford to Megatron. Would be a lot of fun to watch.

So I knew it was coming but Barnwell picked the Panthers as a bottom-dweller this year. ~5 wins.

I see them as more 8-8 +/- 1.

I don't buy at the least. Wish I did.

I think it's a decent pickup. Most likely he's nobody but may as well give a 3rd year guy from a terrible offense a run, especially when our WR are terrible as a whole.

The defense is still super gnarly, making the 8-8 an easy goal. I also think our WR group is much better this year than the last couple. Benjamin is already becoming a top tier WR (from the looks of preseason) Bersin, is just beast. Avant and Cotchery have that experience to make KB13 and Bersin more knowledgeable about the game etc. I see us in a very good place.

The DBs will likely be worse, although not sure that's a huge deal. We have to pray the front 7 stays healthy (no guarantee). I think overall the WR corps is going to be terrible. KB looks good, I agree, but depending on a rookie when teams start to gameplan for him is going to be trouble. I have no faith in any other WR right now. Hope I'm wrong.

The real problem is OL IMO. With a potentially bad OL the running game will be worse, which will lead to a bunch of 3rd and longs. That's going to be a serious issue this year.

Stephen Hill lands with Panthers
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Carolina Panthers signed former second-round draft pick Stephen Hill to their practice squad on Tuesday.

The New York Jets, who took Hill in the 2012 draft, cut the former wide receiver out of Georgia Tech on Saturday. Because of new practice squad rules introduced by the NFL and NFLPA on Aug. 19, Hill was eligible for the squad despite playing in 23 games the past two seasons.

According to one of Hill's agents, Jared Fox, at least two other teams expressed a strong interest in signing the 6-foot-4, 215-pound player to their practice squad.

Having the opportunity to work with Carolina wide receivers coach Ricky Proehl, who played 17 years in the league, factored into the decision.

"Ricky is a tremendous coach and a tremendous technician and has a lot of convictions about what he does,'' Fox told ESPN.com. "If he takes an interest in working with Stephen, that would be a really great benefit.''

Although he started 19 games for the Jets, Hill never materialized as a top receiving threat. In two years, he had 45 catches for 594 yards and four touchdowns.

I like the Hill signing. Don't expect much but maybe with some time to learn the playbook he can contribute. Maybe develop into something useful.

Godfrey is basically a swing-DB, like you have swing-OT on offense. he'll probably be the starting Nickel at first and backup at Safety. i'm hoping Benwikere takes that starting Nickel spot though

if he can catch the ball, he'll be worth it. he needs to learn to catch first

We have new personnel but I feel like the same problems as last year are still around…..suspect secondary AT BEST. Our O-Line sucks and there will be no running game…

Also the schedule seems really tough.

Time to see it all live.

Early reports saying that Cam will probably sit. If that's the case I guess I get it. Better to sit and be at full strength for 15 games than play half assed for the first one and possibly reinjure and make this a longer term thing than it needs to be. I just hate to start the season, especially vs. someone in division, without him.

Holding him out this week could all be pointless if he plays next week and gets hurt. He could get hurt in any game, so why not just roll with him game 1? to me it seems like they're just building in an excuse if we lose today

said it before, the injury is worse than they're leading on.

he'll be a gametime decision next week, and the week after, but will ultimately miss those games until he undergoes a season ending surgery around week 4-5.

hope to fukking god I'm wrong but I've seen situation like this play out all too often.

They just don't want to put him out there with as little time as he's had to prepare considering the offseason surgery. Like most people they probably don't think the team is going to be that good this year so they'd rather be safe.

ehh I'm just not as down on the team I guess. The defense is still there. Our offense wasn't setting records last year so as long as we have Cam I figured we'd be fine. Def wouldn't win as many games but I expected us to finish over .500 and competing for a playoff spot.

Conceding week one kinda fukks us over..
